What engine does this Astra Mk4 have??? I am searching for a complete rear axle with 4 stud brake discs and I don't know which Astras have them. Here in Spain Astras with more than 100hp have 5 stud brake discs. With 4 studs have always drum brakes...
@Street_Fitter6 күн бұрын
I converted the rear brakes from a 1.8 4 stud sxi. You can keep the original axle but need the brackets and caliper carriers, discs, pads and handbrake cables. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZiYmYuCd7x0rLs
@juanfranciscofernandezmart66336 күн бұрын
Yeah, I know that I don't need the complete rear axle but I think that it is not necessary to change wheel bearings, but rear brake pipe lines and hand brake line are different, so I'll try to get them. I had seen your videos of conversion but I don't see how you connect them to the new disc brakes and how you modified them to make it possible
@Street_Fitter6 күн бұрын
@@juanfranciscofernandezmart6633 I didn't have to modify anything because I had the full car to swap everything required over from. It was a few years ago now so I can't remember everything exactly but to find all these parts without a donor car could be difficult. It may be quicker cheaper and easier to buy a mk5 astra h and just convert yours to 5 stud.

You need to take new m12 bolts with m14 spline for that. Its a safety issue. Do not take the old ones. They cost 2.50 each
@Street_FitterАй бұрын
It depends on the condition of the bolts. If they were worn I would have replaced them but they were still fairly new.
@IndependentschluederАй бұрын
@@Street_Fitter Well, If you screw them exactly with 90nm 180° you can use them again, but i didnt see you doing that. These bolts bend, If you overbend them, they are "screwed" If you dont bend them enough they are a safety issue. In both ways it would be a safety issue, at least use locktide

@@spook_dad it could mean the caliper carrier. You would only need to replace the caliper not the carrier. Check first though make sure it is the caliper that is at fault.
