Helo, thanks a lot for your imformative video it is really Instructive. I have a technical question about the sliding pins.Are they disigned to taket part or none of the innertia from the rotor disc when the pedal is pushed down or they should be free of such a stress, as when the pads are compressed the pads should take all or most of the innertia force to the bracket abutement . I say this because I have seen people fixing the problem of pin and bracket bore mild wearing by bushing it with brass or even plastic or tefflon sleeves, while force carry over should be a concern using tefflon or plastic above all. Obviously excess wearing leads to bad contact from rotor disc and pads and sleeve fixing might not be even a temporary solution other than new caliper bracket replacement. Best regards and sorry for too much wording.

This is sooooo unrealistic. Show actual work, not fluff. Plus you don’t replace all that each time, or EVER for some parts like pistons unless damaged or not right 😂❤

you are an absolute dumbA** for recommending changing caliper boot and ring for few reason !-you do not have rebuild caliper every brake pads change! it's plain stupid 2- caliper boot and piston seal is not coming that east,you have to put a 2X4 or 1X4 piece of wood in front of it inside caliper and make sure your finger is nowhere near it!!,put shop air where brake hose is and as air pressure about 90PSI behind piston violently push it out towards 2x4 you can very very carefully take the boot out! 3-then with slower pressure pop the piton out and check and change the seal 4- putting back in is even more dangerous as you have to put air pressure behind it and push the piston back in 5- a 30$ rebuilt caliper is lot safer if your caliper piston frozen,or seal is torn 6- there is no way in the hell you can pull the piston boot or piston it self out that easy with your fingers

Well that is a bunch of bullshit. There are control arms, the steering knuckle, half shaft axle, hangers, tie rods, ball joints, wheel well tub, an engine and all kinds of other shit right where he is standing. And I usually have to at least use compressed air and in some cases blow the cylinders out with grease or oil, because they are jammed in there so tightly.

Great video! Was wondering what a Brake Caliper Low Frequency Noise Damper did. Lots of videos showing HOW to install them...But not one showing the difference between them installed vs not installed

I can vouch for it. Brakes squeel for several reasons, and one of the most prominent is the harmonic between gripping and slipping and the free play in the suspension that is a result of using rubber bushings. Slipping friction is always lower than gripping friction. this is why cars have ABS, to try and use the tire's sticking friction to stop, not the slipping friction (skidding).. The brakes slipping friction increases the closer it gets to a stop. as the pad "Bites" the rotor, the caliper, knuckle, and control arms start to move, there's also a small deflection within these parts. as the bushings offer more resistance to rotation, the brake bad can't hold the rotor and lets go. This causes the whole assembly to "Snap" toward a rest position. as this causes a slight overshoot, the pad now has a chance again to "Bite" the rotor and the process happens over and over, thousands of times a second at the harmonic frequency of the whole assembly. If you change the mass of this assembly (As GM did on the 5th gen camaros with wheel weights stuck to the caliper, or later where 2 weights were attached to the brake pads themselves) you change the harmonic frequency of the assembly. If the new harmonic frequency of the assembly is out of tune with the system as a whole, (frequency of the caliper, knuckle, arms, Vs caliper knuckle arms and bushings which offer the "reset" frequency for the system) then there is no more harmonic, and no brake noise. think of it like pushing someone on a swing. that's a harmonic resonance between you pushing (The control arm bushings) and the swing (the caliper, knuckle, control arms).. if you change the frequency of one of the 2 system components, in this case you pushing (Possibly switching from rubber to poly or solid bushings and stiffer control arms) now you're trying to push at a different rate than the mass on the swing. however in this video we are changing the mass which does the same thing. It's simple 10th-11th grade physics.

Should we use these together with Anti-seize or brake grease? It seems the surfaces are already "properly coated" - rubber and PTFE, but should state that explicitly in video - to grease or not to grease.

Should hardware be on the front and rear or just the rear? I purchased brake pads for my 2017 Mercedes GLS 450 from the dealership, but the dealership box had only rear hardware, not front hardware. The shop that did my brakes showed me that my front brakes move back and forth because no hardware came with brakes. They also showed me that the rear brakes do not move because it has hardware. Should there be hardware in the front as well?
@reallifeengineer72142 жыл бұрын
Yes, that hardware bracket should be present on both front & back. Think of it as the guide rail for the pads. If missing half the guide rail, then not good guidance.

I like this idea but I am baffled by something maybe you could answer. I have been in the automotive repair industry for about 18 years or so. These seem to have been a somewhat recent innovation that I see on newer ford trucks. Brakes have been around for many years and many years of innovation through pad and rotor technology. I feel like these are a band-aid to deeper problems like maybe wrong pad material or rotor glazing etc. Why do most vehicles never need these but ford trucks seem to use them. Maybe others use them and I haven't yet noticed.

Is it possible that its the ceramic material being used? When i put regular pads, i had no squealing. Then when i installed the ceramic pads i would get a very loud squeal every morning on the first braking until they warmed up.

Comparing *new* your product to *old worn out* their product seems kind of disingenuous. Why didn't you compare the noise levels of new quiet glide vs new plain stainless steel? Maybe the difference is not significant?

ahoorakia it’s hard as hell to get the caliper piston out and usually requires compressed air. You’d also need to remove the caliper to take the piston out. This video is mostly good but then it turns into trash.
