Good afternoon. Keep up the good work! Also when listing to this video and you making the comment about Miko going out for target practice, it got me thinking. I think you should go back and listen to your own comments and make notes of them and where in the book you are at. I think it would be a good idea to maybe add some of them into the book. Just a suggestion. Now not to argue... lol but if you would like i will definitely keep making suggestions as i take this journey with you throu one of my favorite book sets.

So you have asked for comments. Something has been bugging me since James has gotten hurt twice now in the first couple of chapters. Why doesn't he use his magic to heal himself? He did just that in book one when fighting the girl from San Fran. He used a druid spell to heal the burns from the black cloud she hit him with.
@BrianSPratt-Author3 күн бұрын
James does not heal himself for the simple reason that he doesn't think he can. Keep in mind in roleplaying, mages seldom heal, if at all. that is the province for clerics. he is a mage. Now, in reality, reason clerics can heal, and mages cannot, or should not, is that they are utilizing two different types of magics. James' magic comes from within himself and from the world at large. all effects are based on his knowledge, and belief. Had James been a med student, he probably would have done more rudimenary healings. When faced with healing broken bones, damaged tissue, tendons, muscles, veins, he doesn't have the intimate knowledge of these to direct magic to fix them correctly. Sure, he could 'fix' his wounds, but would they work correctly again? what if to fuse a cut, his magic just fused everything together into one mass, that though it looked correct, was all wrong? Clerics/priests use divine magic. and as such, when they use their magic, it has the aid of their god and or it's minions like angels, cherubim, etc. When they heal, it is really their god that is directing the magic to heal. and gods understand such things. One last thing. In the first 3 books, James is on the run, forever 'reacting' to the world around him. He hasn't had much downtime to just 'think' about magic and try to figure out the finer points. that begins in book 4.
@BrianSPratt-Author3 күн бұрын
and I love comments/questions. keep them coming. :) makes me think more about what I write
@BrianSPratt-Author3 күн бұрын
Now, why did his burns ease when he fought the girl from San Francisco? Good question. He asked for nature to 'help him' and nature responded. Nature has a healing property to it, regenerative. so when he asked for help, nature added that part on its own. Or perhaps using magic from nature may in itself provide minor healing benefits? Hadn't thought of that. interesting possibility
@BrianSPratt-Author3 күн бұрын
Went back and read the spell he used. 'Soothe and heal' 'No pain to feel.' He asked to not feel pain, not heal the wounds. In the moment when he formulated the spell, he could have thought of Tylenol and how it helps ease the pain. Result of the spell could have been a simple mental block. Or his mind just stopped registering pain for the moment. -that was a good question. :)
@caveman86833 күн бұрын
@BrianSPratt-Author I'm not trying to argue, and to be honest I had to go back and re read it just to make sure i was remembering it right but book one chapter 5 page 83, It engulfed his arm; welts formed and fire raced along his nerve endings. A scream escaped him as more of his body came in contact with the toxic cloud. Somewhere amidst the agony, he found the strength to cry: Soothe and heal No pain to feel So with that said I'm still don't understand why he wouldn't do the same spell. I understand that he doesn't want to creat death like he did back at the house when fighting the girl and the demon but I think he could have been more careful with how he used it and could have still healed himself in the same way.

I'm trying to find the set as a box set tho I don't think there are any. If you have a complete set I would love to buy them from you and would pay extra if you would sign them. Just a thought. I'm waiting for my son to get a little bit older before I start to read them to him. Keep up the good work!

@@caveman8683 No Box Set in paperback form has ever been created. eBook, yes. Paperbacks only account for about 1% of all my sales. They barely stay ahead of the cost of having them. So unless I get a movie deal or something incredible happens, doubt a print Box Set will ever happen. I don't have any sets here at the house to sell either. I do appreciate your encouragement. Need that from time to time, and now is one of those times. :) so thank you.

Good Morning. We have some relief from the heat starting tomorrow:) I have a question. When someone tell me a story or I think of something I can see it in my mind. Or ( which may be possible I have been told) do I have loose screws?
