Great video. Concise. And no stupid music playing in the background. 😂😂😂 Going out for tomorrow’s opener up here in area seven. I’ll try to remember to come back here and let you know how I did and give you my modified bait recipe. I bought the 22 pound bag of Friskies seafood sensations thanks to your video.

@@fishingthepnwwithdave7833 Went to my spot yesterday and got totally skunked the first two pulls. Moved to a saved waypoint from last year and got 19 in the first pull. Sort of disappointing but at least it wasn’t a skunk. Pulled the 2nd pot and wouldn’t you know it?…..60 shrimp, putting me just one shy of 80! 😂 I used 6 cans of Special Kitty wet, then about 4 lbs of Friskey’s “Seafood Sensations” dry, a couple cups of fish attractant oil, and finally, about 4 cups of shrimp pellets that I heated in a saucepan with some water. The pellets sat overnight. Going out again today.

I'm new to bass fishing, salmon, steelhead, that's a different story, I've joined several groups on FB, it helps. I only know of these private ponds, so that doesn't help you. Good luck.

I did the same thing with my AP120 for three reasons. To see how the PVC would rest, to see how far apart they need to be (for the trailer bunk spacing) and for length. I didn't, at first, include the 45 degree extensions and the end of the PVC caught on the lip of the kayak when launching.

What rod were you using to plunk with? Awesome videos. Definitely subscribing!
@fishingthepnwwithdave78333 ай бұрын
That particular rod is a Lamiglas SK 11MHC 11' medium heavy rod, a bit overkill for what I was doing, but it's my plunking rod. More for chinook than anything else. Probably could've gotten away with something smaller, maybe in the 10-20 lb line rating range, but when throwing 4-6 oz, need a decent rod. That rod in the video has a butt extension as well, I bought this setup used, paid 150.00, reel alone was worth that much. Got lucky.

what weight spinners do you recommend?
@fishingthepnwwithdave78337 ай бұрын
When it comes to Blue fox spinners the size is stamped into the blade. For steelhead, 3's (1/4oz) and 4's (3/8oz) would be your most common. Some spinners like your Flying C's come in two weights, 5/8oz and 7/8oz. Your river condition will dictate what weight (size) spinner to throw. Really depends on current and how long it takes the spinner to get into the column. I'll carry 10-20 different spinners with me when I go spinner fishing, different colors, weights until I find what is working. I like making my spinners, for one, it's cheaper, especially when you loose spinners, and you will loose spinners. Either caught in a tree or a snag in the river. Hope this helps, good luck.

I make a lot of my own spinners and have been doing it for almost 15 years... soak your surgical tubing in warm soapy water, it makes it easier to work with.. I would hate to see a treble hook in your fingers.. I use walleye blades I buy online from great lakes region. Price is better and rotate at slower speeds. Plus you make patterns no one else out here has and gets you more bites. Also get some cheap unscented baby wipes, clean your spinners with before they go in the water, the wipes will also shine and polish the spinner blades, you will hook a lot more fish.. Hopefully these are some helpful tips...

I have been getting mine for years from sportco and fishfield...sportco will notify you when one that is out of stick cones back in... from what I can tell sportco gets more than anyone else... I had my 1st spinfish in 3.0 do the same after 4 fish in 2 trips...other option is at your local tackle shop get to know the guys at the back counter... sometimes I get a phone call before the public gets a shot to purchase.

Thanks for the video. I've been subscribed and learning a lot. I'm just getting into salmon fishing quite late at 56 but excited to learn. Where would you suggest a person out in on the columbia to fish? I'm hoping to at least get out and get some experience where fish might be. Thanks for any help
@fishingthepnwwithdave78337 ай бұрын
Quite a bit of river to fish depending whats close to you. Are you fishing from the bank or a boat? If from a boat and in the Portland area, Gleason boat ramp by the airport, Chinook Landing boat ramp, the channel down by Scappoose bay, up by the dam. I suggest doing a guided trip close to where you plan to fish, that should help. Jack and Brandon Glass are very well known around here and great guides. Watch all my videos and look at the backgrounds, there are some clues there. Also check some of the fishing forums for open seats. That's how I started before I got my boat. Send me an email, we can talk in more detail. Cheers

Very interesting. My question is why do people not use a split ring for the hook? It only seems practical. Especially if you go to places that only allow single hooks, not treble hooks. Much easier to swap out. At least thats what I think. Lastly, where do you get all of your supplies? I've tried to find some but have struck out. Fish on sir! Very

Where are they waiting for it to arrive from? I thought they made everything there in woodland. Btw, who cares about the color? How many decades have you been catching salmon? You could probably catch them on a broomstick with a dog turd as bait as this point. It’s experience and knowledge that catches fish, not confidence.
@fishingthepnwwithdave78338 ай бұрын
Evidently they are back ordered. That's gota tell you something. If they threw a new top half at no cost, no brainer. But for what it's worth, I'll just leave it. At least I'll know the option is there.
