Its funny how things old become new, my family farmed around 500 acres, about half corn cultivated with one of the best working little tractors the farmall cub, that was its purpose, but it could trim hay fields, hill potatoes, etc ,now it mows my grass, they bought it the year I was born in 1952.

Allis Chalmers had something like that in a single row size. They had something bigger with a grader blade then a real maintainer with a blade and dual axles in back but only one driving. No cab on the one my boss had. It was much smaller than a Caterpiller Maintainer

I purchased a walk behind battery powered model this spring. It is a game changer, exact spacing, zero doubles, zero skips. I been planting five acres of sweetcorn every year for 30 years with an earthway push planter. Tons of doubles and tripples, lots of skips. I always had to work the ground before planting. Now I can work ground, band fert, mark rows with tractor and plant every four days or later or as needed. I got the double disk opener so even after a rain or two, I can go out and plant without having to wait for the ground to dry enough to till more ground.

My imagination is going wild picturing this implement mounted to the belly of a Farmall B modified to have two seats. One operator steers the tractor, the other maneuvers the tools, and the whole thing could spin around in a 10-foot headland/road.

If they could straighten out those rows a little, it would be possible to cultivate in both directions & eliminate more weeds.

Not sure I see the advantage over an old school cultivator and it only requires one operator.
@TilmorProducts5 ай бұрын
The advantage being the precision in the row which leads to a reduction in overall labor hours required. Vegetables are generally grown with minimal/no sprays and thus require more weed management than a conventional row crop grower would and more precision than a 3pt old school cultivator can provide. This ends up in more hand weeding which the steerable can often times eliminate completely when timing works out. Mid mount cultivation tractors were created for the purpose of adding this necessary precision and being able to do it with a single person, but this is a way for farmers to use the tractor they have, albeit with a second operator. The upside is two operators now and hopefully no hand weeding later vs one operator and guaranteed hand weeding. Man hours will be significantly more in the latter scenario.

Hi, I like the looks of your products. I have a WeedBadger, which is problematic in that when dehilling etc. It throws dirt under the tires and gets packed down. Eventually ridges build up and the dirt migrates away from the vines and you have less to work with to hill up. Are you considering a fender or some kind of scraper or shield to keep the dirt over spray from becoming . Some european tools have adaptions for managing this situation.
@TilmorProducts5 ай бұрын
Thank you for comment and the additional details. It is not something that has been brought up before but it is a feature we could look at adding down the road. If it is used in conjunction with the Adaptive Cultivator (ACS), then there should be a decent shoulder cut with the spyder and that entire cultivated area experiences a constant push/pull of soil in and out of the row for weed management. If dehilling is done without an extreme angle or speed, then even with the soil moved away from the row the ACS will redistribute it across and keep much of it away from the tires.

Hi, what size tyre options are there for the rear tyre sizes please?
@TilmorProducts5 ай бұрын
We only offer the 8.3-24 tire size. The wheel is a 24x7 so theoretically if you would have the wheel spacing out beyond the fenders you could fit a larger size but we have not done any testing around that.

If you guys could have a rear and mid Pto and have it run attachments like the John Deere 1023e for tillage whether that’s a a tiller or moldboard plow, bush hog/ mowing and maybe even a mid mower and that would be really a one stop machine for vegetable farmers minus a loader but you can get by without one of those.
