Oddly enough, I don’t hate Count Olaf in spite of everything he did. He sought vengeance because his dad was accidentally killed. When something traumatic happens to us, the first emotions we often seek out are negative. Although unfortunately, some people’s are more extreme than others, like Olaf’s. He did a wicked thing because he felt it was the only way he could satisfy himself. But of course, that never works for anyone. Also add in the fact that he’s antisocial and psychotic and you have someone unstable enough to make said wicked decisions. Even after everything, I still choose to forgive him because he at least did one good thing before he died. He truly is a chef salad.
