Had Johannes been based or raced on the East Coast, those voters would be making the case that Rebel Romance had won only one race in the States in 2024 and would vote for Johannes. Last year, they voted for Up to the Mark, who did not win the Breeder's Cup and who lost to the superior performing horse, Auguste Rodin. The reason they said they voted for Up to the Mark was that Auguste Rodan had only won once in the States. Lacking any standard criteria to select Eclipse winners, the biggest problem with voters in general is their lack of consistency in applying whatever their personal biases may be. Regarding White Abarrio, he was hard pressed to beat third place finisher, Lil Vic, who was impressive to nearly take second.

Guys, I do not understand what the surprise is about. Mystik Dan last two wins were at 11/1 & 18/1. What does the aforementioned indicates? He was never considered one of the top colts. Do not be fooled by his KD winner status. There are many KD winners who are fortunate to hold the title. It isn't reflective of how good they are. He was in need of an oxygen tank in the last 100M of a race that left him as damaged goods. he was never top colt.
