As Venerable Tsong Rimpoche once said: "Don't get involved. They can bring you down faster than you can bring them up." And HHDL once said, "If you cannot change the inner and outer obstacles, leave that place." As an old Akido saying goes, "The one sure way to win every fight is to not be there."

. Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to Buddhists.

This dude is pathetic - my oldest is 40, and then I got two more after her. They all have their own lives yet as a family we are tight. Our kids can also live with us if needed , any time. I miss those days when they were children. Then as now, I saw them as responsibilities the heavens had awarded me to care for, and always I will - I see this dud as a looser

#Distraction ... which nobody seems to grapple with. Late 1960s I sketched a crude cartoon. Like a multi-floor apartment, side-view, and in each window a foggy silhouette ... facing to the side ... as though watching a television. Or, modernized, engaged with a PC. That was 1966. I was 12. It's been painful, living with these folk. I never wanted other than sangha, but ... advertising, commodification, marketing, monetization ... distraction and consumerism. Doesn't dharma have to deal with reality? "It is what it is"? *_Tathatā_* ... karma, nae?

Dunno. His team was just plain nasty in late 1990s (I took refuge with him at Gampo, 1991) and since then ... well ... what's a good term. Vague? arcane? I've for years been trying to broach the topic of *_"sangha._* (I may be gnarly old redneck but I ain't no pessimistic cynic!) I lived through the Shambhala thing, after Soto Zen. So ... perversely ... I'm grateful for all this to show the depth of samsara. be well p.s. Karma Chöpal

Connection between survival and grasping. Yes. Contemplating chapter one of Emotional Rescue, I have observed how ego is composite. One emotion, say anger, has a whole set of thoughts and thoughts patterns that arise. Likewise, another emotion, perhaps arising with pure motivation, has a different composite of thoughts. It seems that actions arise from thoughts. The whole is karma, cause and effect? Yes. It is helpful to be able to let go.

Buddha and Khenpo Rinpoche [Dechen Rangdrol] taught the View so we could progressively learn the TRUTH! We call it the VIEW because that is how the Yogi SEES "reality". Biologically all living beings are more like a waterfall than a statue. From moment to moment millions of cells die and millions are created, born, every second in our body. Like looking at a rapidly flowing waterfall the ever-changing water looks like something is stable there; and, we give it a name like Niagara Falls! But this ever-changing waterfall is not something solid although it appears that there's something stable there! This is the biological “truth” of our “Loved ones”. What we Love and hold onto is their genuine essence, not the apparent “waterfall body” that is always dying, not stable. The essence that we love is beyond the ever-dying apparent body. Our love never dies, the unborn essence never dies, but the sadness attached to the waterfall body fades.
