If you think that 2-3 ft chop is rough, you better not come to the SE side unless you first get a REAL Spt. Fish. Sold my Contender about a year ago. Problem with all those Center Console boats is they lack weight so NONE of them really ride very well.

How are you mounting the motor on the boat?
@spearfish257 ай бұрын
I installed the rhodan mounting puck directly on the deck with a backing plate underneath.
@axscdvfb7 ай бұрын
@@spearfish25 Thanks for your reply! I saw on you video that the motor seems to be firmly attached to the puck even when the waves are putting a lot of torque onto the shaft. On my boat, I am using a quick-release mount for my MotorGuide trolling motor. The mount rocks a lot in waves because there's a lot of freeplay. I am thinking of upgrading to a Rhodan. Do you have any freeplay between the puck and the motor?

I used to own a 26 regulator classic before forward seating. 06 model I think. That was a beast. I'd regularly run her 75+ miles offshore of NC with the sport fishing yachts no problem. Great boats. Now, too much fluff and puff.

I’ve heard rumors the 28 is not as nice of a ride/much more wet than the 26. Do you have any experience in that regard?
@spearfish25 Жыл бұрын
I've never been on a 26. The 28 is not a wet ride at all. The only days I've gotten spray where the very nasty days with a stiff 15+ mph cross wind. Otherwise, it was as dry as I'd expect from that size boat.

It’s actually good to run them full throughly every once in a while. Bad for gas but cleans everything out. Also this motors can do that all day long. Newer motors are made to run. As said expensive but will not be a problem. Commercial guys do it all the time with underpowered boats.

@spearfish25 Жыл бұрын
This was a pretty nasty day. Wind was 20kts out of the SW. Seas were stacked 3s once we got out past the lighthouse with occasional larger. Not knowing the boat then, I definitely puckered up a couple times thinking we were going to eat one (you can hear me say "big one" thinking the captain didn't see it coming). Boat ate them right up.

One more question. Are you running the yamaha 425's on this boat? My parents have a bennington Q series pontoon boat for their lake and they put a yamaha 425 on the back which is extreme overkill for a 28 foot pontoon but its been a great engine with no problems. The reason why im asking is to see what your maintenance schedule is like if these are the outboards you have. Thanks!
@spearfish252 жыл бұрын
Yep, triple 425s. Their maintenance is the Yamaha standard. Every hundred hours is greasing the zercs, replacing fuel filters, replacing spark plugs, and changing engine oil and lower unit oil. Water impellers are replaced every 300 hours.
@cwisted53082 жыл бұрын
@@spearfish25 I'm sure triple 425's on that 39 runs like a dream. I think they only have about 40 hours on their engine so im sure the maintenance is already planned. The people who work on their boats are really solid. Hopefully ill have a 39 one day!

Wait, those look like 250s, it only used to top out at 60? I know, newer hull and no idea how much fuel but we got a 26ft 01 hull with the ox66 250s up around 64-65 but when we swapped out motors had to fall back to 200hp 4-strokes and only get 48-49 wot now but seein 1.8-2.1mpg at cruise is much better than 1.1-1.2 with the 250hp 2-stroke, not to mention the oil
@spearfish252 жыл бұрын
This is a 28 Regulator and they all come with 300hp Yamahas from the factory. Top speed is prop dependent and slightly slower here because I'm using 4 blade Rev4 19p props. I like the change in ride with these props, but I lose 3mph on top end. The 21p SWS props do 60-61 if I'm in the flat bay. This is offshore and not completely flat...so I'm not fully trimmed out.

I have a 2019 370Z and I'm really annoyed with the choice of gauges that Nissan made for the gauge cluster. The oil temp gauge is extremely useful, as opposed to the useless battery voltage and digital clock. Nissan should've put an oil pressure gauge in place of the useless digital clock and maybe something like a diff temp gauge in place of the voltmeter.
