A few years ago, I inherited a small black pine with yellowing needles, from a retiring bonsai club member. I’d heard that the color was because of an iron deficiency and that I should insert a hand full of iron nails into the soil, to combat this yellowing. A year or two later, It seemed to work, however I did give it much needed fertilizers, of which I believe it was deprived, so I can’t be sure. 🤷🏼♂️ Thank You for your informative Videos 🙏 Always Amazing to see your trees and your works up close and personal 👍👍👍

Come to think of it, I see people sticking several iron nails into the soil.around the roots of black pines. Thank you. It's worth a try.
Sensei, approximately what is the pot size number of the pruned pine trees in today's video?
@bonsai-haruyoshi3 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. They are size 4 pots with a diameter of 12 cm.

Are your Shimpaku Itoigawa or Kishu? I think Itoigawa cause some cedar leaves
@bonsai-haruyoshi9 күн бұрын
This tree I worked this time are Itoigawa. Maybe they won't have cedar leaves. I didn't give them so much burden.
@yoteslaya72962 күн бұрын
itoigawa and kishu will both make "cedar" (in the west we call it juvenile foliage) its a response by the tree to protect itself from pests or animals eating the foliage. Anytime you stress the tree by pruning it you'll get "cedar leaves"
@bonsai-haruyoshi2 күн бұрын
Really? This is the first time I have heard of such a thing. In Japan, it's not said that way. I'll think about it more
@carlmorton91609 күн бұрын
Hi.. by "weakness" you mean the branch is unattractive yes? it almost has reverse taper... I have a tree like that, a horizontal branch with many branches at the end
@bonsai-haruyoshi9 күн бұрын
"Weakness" means I don't like some boring part of the trunk of the tree.

Thank you for your comment from Hawaii. I got those trays from a gardening shop. It's convenient to carry my trees.

Exceptional as always, your tree in the Sometsuke pot is this one of your pots?. Thank you for sharing
@bonsai-haruyoshi10 күн бұрын
@@oldschoolcarper1298 yes, I made it when I was young.
No. There's a bit difference between them because Cotoneaster trees lose their fruits and leaves in fall.
