It always annoys me when someone calls it a megacity and the largest city proper in the world. Chongqing is a municipality, a large amount of that population is spread out. The actual main big city where we see photos of videos filmed at is only 7 million people. It'd be the same as calling the Czech Republic a city of 10 million, when it isn't, it has different urban areas.

The only reason you gave in another comment was that "the chinese currency is pegged to the USD" which is simply not true, the currency was depegged back in 2005. Economics is not as simple as just "China is competitive because supply chain". I have listed many sources in the description i would encourage you to take a look at.

A lot of error in this video. China eliminated pollution ans polluting company cannot operate in China anymore. Second China keep the currency stable. No manipulation is necessary.
@easterneconomics
@easterneconomics Жыл бұрын
- China surely did not eliminate pollution, no country has. The second most polluted city, Hotan, is located in China. There are many different sources on that but here is an example: www.iqair.com/world-most-polluted-cities. There are no chinese sources either which claim that "china eliminated pollution". Quoting from CGTN, state owned media: "...the air pollution situation is still serious, with more than half the country's cities still being heavily polluted. Ozone pollution is getting worse, especially in summer." (news.cgtn.com/news/2022-11-18/New-measures-to-eliminate-heavy-pollution-in-China-by-2025-1f3J2qCZWIU/index.html) - I am not sure what you mean with your second point about the currency. The Yuan was pegged to the USD from 1994-2005, I never mentioned currency manipulation. The central banks of every country aim at having a desirable value of their currency due to favorable export conditions (cheap currency = cheaper products for international buyers).

Perhaps you have missed the most important factor? Every sector of the economy has a monopolistic position within it. Such positions were purposely sold off during the New Order. Not only do these positions still exist, they are supported by the public sector. What this means is that SMEs in Indonesia may only grow, if the owners of these monopolistic positions permit it. That well educated young Indonesians find their careers stifled unless they are close to the interests of these owners. But most pernicious, that any attempts at reducing inequality actually has the opposite effect. That's correct the more Indonesia develops the richer its rich becomes and the poorer its poor become, in relative terms.

China is also a huge market for the world. In 2022, China imported approximately 2.72 trillion U.S. dollars worth of goods. This indicated an increase in import value by about 1.1 percent compared to the previous year. China does not shut out other countries to sell its products to China. In fact China has been the biggest export market for many countries. E. g In fact China is the 3rd largest export market for US exports. United States Exports to China was US$153.84 Billion during 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Germany Exports to China was US$113.38 Billion during 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Japan Exports to China was US$144.54 Billion during 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Australia Exports to China was US$102.35 Billion during 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. In 2022, the value of goods exported from South Korea to China amounted to about 155.8 billion U.S. dollars. And more.... Please don't spread falsehood and hatreds against China.

Indonesia gained independence a long long time ago ages in fact .....but coz of mismanagement it really has not taken up to its right places in the sun. The Indonesian themselves are very elusive in giving out reason why they did not move up the ladder ....the most common is Indonesia is big, well huge is more appropriate ? But hello Indonesian China is twice as big but look at them grow ! The Indonesian will give u reason upon reason why they fail to achieve greater success. but they're a proud ppl will always they're world rangking. My take is unless Indonesia seriously fight corruption all the way (all sundries knew it exists) they're be in square one ? U feel indonesia has TWO President (1) The official one (2) the unofficial president of Mafia. Their links is everywhere & deeply rooted. President Jokowi is in his last leg of being Indonesia's no. 1, he'll be out of office by 2024 & a new president will take over . He leaves office with the new capital in Kalimantan not ready, a huge debts by Indonesia standard, a poor education system so is their health care coz 90% of the country budget goes to buy military equipment & assets.... likely want to arms to the teeth.....a laugh really, a separatists war in Papua with OPM (organisation for Papua independent) running round the Indonesian forces "Kompassus" & the OPM member got to kill these so called elite commandos? Best of luck for Indonesia.

another dark side of indonesia and dutch irony. "Masa bersiap" was a period of political uncertainty between 1945 and 1949 in which the Indonesian people prepared themselves for the struggle for independence from Dutch colonialism. As many as 3,500 Dutch citizens of mixed Indonesian-European blood were brutally murdered with machetes and sharpened bamboo. About 4,000 Dutch women and children were left stranded to suffer from hunger, disease, and exhaustion. Historical records in the Netherlands say the number of victims at that time reached more than 20,000 people. Around16,000 Dutch citizens were reported missing, including Chinese who were Dutch citizens, who always considered their degree higher than the indigenous people disappeared swallowed up by the earth,their bodies were never found. that's why it's rare to see Dutch citizens in Indonesia even though the Dutch colonized Indonesia for 350 years.

Coming from Japanese point of view, not surprise that anything good that Indonesia business with others, not Japanese, are always bad. Japanese are really toxic, evidence from the early 1900s and peaked at 1939-1945. It is now coming back to arming itself and use China and NK as the excuse. This time, however, Japan will suffer and be occupied by others instead of occupying other countries. Karma will come back to Japan for sure.
