This is the very place where the hotel scenes of the 1972 Billy Wilder movie 'Avanti!', starring Jack Lemon and Juliet Mills, were shot. Though the movie's plot is unfolding on the famous nearby island Ischia, Wilder was unable to find an adequate hotel there, and decided that Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrent would be perfect. Still, Ischia is highly recommend as a hollyday location. I have been there twice already.

What a beautifully made video of a truly idyllic setting. It transported me away from my surroundings to this gorgeous place. Let’s hope human beings don’t do to it what they like doing - ruining things.
