@mikeh5034 I was at that exact same spot trying to decide between those two. I really like the BadBoy Revolt 48". I looked around a lot to compare the 2, and found that the kinks hadn't really been worked out of the cub cadet yet. The BadBoy is a very solid built machine and comes in at a lower price than the cub cadet. I haven't had any problems with clumping at all. Everything on the BadBoy is beefy and sturdy.

Blades with long tip high lift do a very good job of mowing and throwing. I particularly use them during early fall (cross blade, highlift on the bottom and gators on the top). High lift pulls the leaves up out of the grass...gators mulch. A perfect combination!! It cleans up the lawn very well until leaves start falling in high volume.

The sand really kills the blades edge quickly, , and then the wet grass clogging up the deck🤔 I have experimented with a variety of blades and it looks from my own assortment, that the blade with the short/small foil would be considered a "standard" blade and the longer foiled blade would be a "high lift" I run Exmark and Kubota equipment, I am also "skeptical" of people who swear that a "knife edge" is good, from what I've seen a factory ground blade is considerably more durable than a blade the is ground to a knife-like edge, they seem to cut great initially but exhibit a very rounded and dull edge very quickly, buy a new blade and look at it's cutting edge under a magnifying glass, the leading edge will be ground more like a scissor cutting edge, Just "spit-ballin" here🤔🤔🤔

Good Video! and some good points. I once owned a snapper that had blade lift attachments(for bagger use) that thing was like a yard lawn vacuum cleaner. you could watch it suck in leaves that was just close to the deck. Now, I use three different type of blades, I like the options, 1 Mulch blade. 2 High lift blade (for bagging) and side discharge blade. I too, Change my blades very often. That is a really good idea but I think it would be a bit safer to have the jack stands supporting the frame of the mower instead of the deck . I have the kind of lift you are describing and I can lock it into place without the use of jack stands so I can access everything from either side using an air impact to jack it up and using an air impact it does not very long to change blades at all . I guess it is just a matter of whether you want chains hanging from your ceiling all the time or if you want to get a ladder out to remove the hoist when you are finished and climbing a ladder when you need to re-hand the hoist and space . Still a good idea ! Thanks !

Great Idea! I agree, I would never use the regular lawn mower jack lifts, Yes they are right in the way. I use a engine cherry picker lol it will lift the mower all the way off the ground if you wanted to. I lift it high enough so I don't have to lay down under the mower. A tip would be (if you can) go into the attic and increase /strengthen up and bolt the anchor point in solid. Then you would never have to worry about the lag bolts pulling out.
@Rick-the-Swift2 ай бұрын
You should do a video showing your method with the cherry picker. I thought about doing the same thing, that is if you're referring to a "folding crane hoist", but wasn't sure about the logistics, so I haven't pulled the trigger on buying one yet. But then you'd have to store it, so maybe this guy's method is still ideal for me. I agree too about strengthening the anchor point to the joist in the ceiling. Either sister another joist (or two to it, or perhaps add more struts and blocks to the existing framework. Probably lots of ways to skin that cat, and feel safer when hoisting.👍

@@Rick-the-Swift I've thought about making a you tube video. LOL the engine hoist/cherry picker works for me due to I have to work outside and don't have a ceiling rafter to attach to.
