Nice hitting. From my angle of view it looked like you were getting better depth with the Tecnifibre racket at the beginning. That would be logical as it's a stiffer and lighter racket (but head-heavy), so more powerful. Not to recommend the TF though, as I've never used it. It would be interesting to see you train by starting with an old-school heavy and small-headed racket first. I suspect you would then find the Blade much more easy to hit. Perhaps you could borrow the MAX 200G from Nick. You would need to start with mini tennis unless you are used to classic sticks, but after 15 mins you should be able to rally like normal, then moving to the modern racket you should find it incredibly easy to hit quality strokes. Anyway, just a training vlog idea. You could even go 15 mins with a wood, 15 mins with a MAX 200G, then move to a modern stick.

ThNks for posting. I think a smart thing to do if possible would be to also draw a line to the height of a tennis net so you’re not getting used to hitting low balls. Esp for a beginner. Love the way u kept moving your feet tho. It’s one of the dangers of wall ball, we can all get lazy & stop moving our feet because we know the ball is coming right back to us
@tennisKarlaКүн бұрын
That’s such a solid idea, some walls I have played on have this already so it makes it so much easier. I have another video coming up with my tips and I think you’ll like seeing the cool wall I found in the area. Moving the feet is SO important I’ll definitely keep this in mind - thank you!
@comedicmood2729Күн бұрын
I’m surprised you’re not standing further back. Since the ball comes back so quickly the only way I can hit with a decent follow thru is to stand as far back as possible
@tennisKarlaКүн бұрын
my follow through here is definitely cut short. I like the make my wall workouts more aerobic but I found another drill recently that helped me slow down which is waiting for 2 bounces. I thought it was helpful for timing. I’ll definitely keep this in mind. The next time I play on the wall, it has given me something to think about.

Nicely done Karla. You have effortless power. I find that with hitters like Milan (aka The Tennis Jedi) with his flat shots especially... aiming to hit over the net a little higher (4-5 feet) really works for me for getting depth. This is not to mention that the court surface you're playing on is a real tough one too, with the balls skipping and so you have to prep and drop super early for you to do that, and you're doing a great job of it. Footwork is looking good too. :) Cheers, M

I’m a Blade user for most of my life but I’ve tried basically every racquet out there. I’d give these sticks a chance because they are racquets I almost switched to multiple times or did for a while. Blade 100, Yonex E Zone 98, Yonex V Core 98, Radical 98 MP, Tecnifibre TF40 16x19 305, and Head Extreme Tour. Of course there are a lot of variables due to strings and tension but if you’re wanting recommendations strictly on racquets try these. Sometimes after years of the same stick once you get it in your head you might want to switch, it’s hard to get that out of your head. Hope this helps!

I have been on a racquet testing spree so I think you’re right. It’s been hard to get this idea out of my head. I have my plan though, I have some strings to test out and some restringing to do with the Blade. There are other videos planned at the moment, so these racquet testing ones will be out in December. I’m excited to hear everyone’s comments and it’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one testing and testing!! Thank you :)

Your next goals for consistency is to cut the court in half. You can do both forehands and backhands straight across from each other, and then graduate to my favorite consistency drill; the rally in the alley. Where you have to keep your shots in the doubles alley. This drill you would start at the service line (mini tennis) and work your way back to the baseline. Good luck!

It's always good to see the Intuitive Tennis universe collab-ing! You guys are so fortunate to live in the mecca of tennis with the year-round weather and the abundance of courts! (Edit) Did you find it hard to keep up with Milan (Besides him being a former D2) on a breezy day like that and because the ball can skid (giving bad bounces) on the Har-Tru? Keep it up, Karla!
@tennisKarla7 күн бұрын
It’s kind of cool to be able to “collab” 🤣. Thank you for your message!! I have played with Milan a couple of times and the first time I really felt that I was having a hard time keeping up. He is super fit and SO consistent. That was at the beginning of the summer. Since then I have been working more on my fitness and now I find that endurance-wise it’s getting much easier to keep up. I think he consciously hits the ball back to me which makes it easier to continue rallying. Nonetheless, I have definitely seen an improvement in my game and find it much easier to keep up with him than I did at the beginning of the summer when we first played. I’ll be posting a progress video from the previous year to share the progress I’ve made since I started working on my fitness and technique starting in December last year until now. I think you’ll find the results pretty interesting.

@@tennisKarla (Funny I'm watching another one of your videos...now with, Shamir 😂) As you mentioned in the video, filming is SO important. You don't always have the luxury of having a coach Nick at your side, giving you "immediate" feedback, so having video to review afterward is key in your progress. Not to mention, hitting with someone like Milan's caliber will also give you real-time feedback with where you are "deficient" (I don't like using the word, weak, lol) and not as strong, and I'm sure he's happy to assist you with patterns to strengthen them! We just got an extension at our outdoor tennis club (Yay!) for a bit more, so more tennis is always great, but will be living vicariously through you with your Florida tennis! Lastly... Yes, it will be interesting to see your progress videos within that time! Thanks, Karla ☺

For me this was the easiest way to compare and I think one that is similar to what a lot of people do, but you’re totally right… there are too many variables in the way of making a fair comparison. Thank you for your comment, I have two new string options I’ll try and I think it’ll make for a more valid comparison:).

I have a pair of those Blades, the reissue ones (no CV) and there is a noticable lack of free power from them. I have some lead tape on the 3-9 and some in the handle and it still feels light and I really have to fully swing at it to get depth. Have you tried Solinco Confidential at 45lbs? I think it will give some oomph on your shots.

Hi Karla, Nick at Intuitive tennis (I think you know him!) strongly recommends that recreational players string at much lower tensions if using poly strings, and not just a little bit lower. I don't know what tension you use, but I know that Nick has finally convinced Shamir to string a lot lower. So maybe you could try the Blade strung at 40 to 45lb. I'm just a recreational player, but I've lowered my tension from 52lb to 44lb, and I've only seen benefits: a lot more comfort, some increased power, no loss of control.
@tennisKarla7 күн бұрын
As a matter of fact, I do ! Nick is wonderful. That is very interesting, I didn’t know he felt strongly about this point. I did test out stringing much much lower, this racquet (Blade) was strung at 45lbs. I can’t remember if the TF-X1 was strung at 45lb or much lower. I’m definitely going to try this again with each of these strung at the same tension (perhaps 42lb or 43lbs like you’re recommending) and the same strings to see how that goes. I’m really looking forward to the comparison, thank you for your comment !
@coilinnunan40587 күн бұрын
@@tennisKarla That's great to hear. Yes, Nick has done quite a few videos where he recommends to string loser. Shamir had his strings at 55lb, and Nick kept telling him it was far too tight. Then Shamir went down to 48lb, and found it much better, so much so that Shamir said he wanted to go even lower. Nick told him to try 40lb, and even said that with the string he was using it could be strung at 35lb. Note that Nick says that it depends on the string, and some strings should not be strung as low as 35lb as there will then be control problems. But in general, Nick thinks that most recreational players need help from their strings to create power, and are making it difficult for themselves by stringing far too tightly, resulting in tennis elbow and a lack of power. I think Nick often has his own strings at 40lb or below. Personally, I'm going to be trying out even lower than 44lb when I next get new strings.

Tennis is the second toughest sports I have ever played, Surfing is harder, because you literally have to go up the Ocean, and everything it enthralls. How many tournaments have you won? Just wondering because apparently tennis is easy and it should be easy to win tournaments. The game is so easy I bet you can hit 130mph serves, and it’s super easy for you to hold serve. I always wonder Why players had trouble beating Novak because the game is such an easy game and sport to play! Oh course I am joking with you, because you had to realize that the title in your video is going to piss off, players who have been playing tennis for years and trained to be the best player, they can be.

These drills are essential if you want to better your skills and hitting ability ; but , you have to know how to hit a forehand and backhand. Most club players don’t have a clue in the mechanics of a forehand or backhand. They never learned the basic fundamentals . So they step onto the court thinking that they know how and they end up spraying the ball everywhere! And after only 5 minutes , they’re done ! 🤣

Tennis is one of the hardest sports to learn, having to use your whole body, hitting the ball where you want it, with a certain amount of spin, and trying to hit a ball going towards you upto 70mph and balls served towards you at upto 140mph. Its always the learning curve that makes certain sports hard.
