I grew up with Peter Jackson's LOTR, and always felt it's unbeatable, but I think Berserk 1997 is genuinely the one creation that is better than LOTR as the music especially in combination with all the other elements creates such a warm cosy feeling that I don't get from even LOTR, and then plummets us into such horror that LOTR doesn't touch either. I would give my life savings to get a LOTR in Berserk 1997 intensity and style, and a Berserk series with the best qualities of both Peter Jackson's LOTR and the 1997 anime 🔥

I just finished watching '97 Berserk and I do not know anything else about Berserk than that. I also now started to read the manga and I am glad they removed the fairy from the anime because it does give the series a whole new vibe. The fact we only get like 3 chapters with demons on em and 1 is just Zodd for a bit of that episode, make it way more shocking when I saw the eclipse. I am sure that otherwise I would not be this interested in continuing the series

Im not really an anime type of person, I've only ever enjoyed this show and one other. I haven't watched or read anything aside from the 1997 run-through. I really wish that there was so much more than just 25 episodes. I hope one day we get the full story, represented in a way the whole world can digest it. It is beautiful and tragic and horrific.

Objectivity in Media does exist and Berserk 97 was awesome, although definitely not perfect. Unfortunately many people believe subjectivity is the only way to view media. If anything caught me deep on a subjective level it was definitely the soundtrack.

Honestly I really dislike this idea that berserk is an untouchable masterpiece and anyone who disagrees is just wrong or dumb. Like yeah golden age was great, like really great, but thats honestly about it. Many parts of the conviction arc were honestly pretty boring, the black swordsman arc was decent, nothing that blew me away, and a lot of other parts just feel sub par or sometimes out of place. Like yeah you can definitely enjoy all of it, and if you do thats great, but this cult like praise has gotta stop.

Berserk 97 is more or less a perfect adaptation in the way that no, it’s doesnt include EVERYTHING that the manga originally did but the anime 100% captured the spirit and message of what the story was about. It just let a lot of the more core grounded concepts and introduced the dark fantasy elements when it was time.

Literally just finished the anime and immediately went online to start reading the manga. It's that's good and I can't think of any other anime that has ever had that impact on me. Really hope they make another adaptation at least close to the 97 one when all is said and done.

I have passionately avoided Manga and Anime… and then I watched Berserk 97’. ❤WOW!❤… Dear Nephews, I was so wrong! As a punishment fitting to honour Berserk, I shall flagellate myself and then proceed to do 200 hack-slashes with a gigantic sword!

the issue with these kinds of lists is the way they turn into "what is the right answer" instead of "what do I actually like best" nevertheless Berserk is awesome.

I love berserk 1997 and watched it on a whim. I finished it in a couple weeks and went on to watch the next one and was THOROUGHLY disappointed to realise it looked like a video game cutscene

Have you seen Berserk Redux (1080p)? It's amazing. 97 is my favourite official release but the pacing leaves a lot to be desired. Redux cuts in the movies and it just feels much cleaner.

Jjk is the first since naturo where I knew 10+ characters by name and like all of em. Even one piece I find I forgot most characters and only like villains and 3 or 4 of the main crew

As one of the many who reevaluated Berserk 1997 after seeing the Golden Age trilogy and 2016 miserable adaptation I feel the need to thank you for this video. Just a bit I'd like to add in regard to the soundtrack: "MURDER" track, the music played during the Eclipse scene, is a true deep-dive into hell. If a place we could call "hell" existed, this must definitely be the kind of stuff demons are listening to while tormenting the damned. That music is so spot-on and has been on my iPod for decades now
