We got it somewhere in the 60's, but didn't really push it too much with brand new motors. The boat did have bottom paint which slowed it down.

Port engine seems to put out more smoke and steam vs the starboard. But for Detroits those engines run really clean!! What an awesome vintage boat!! I have a 76 Apollo Tri Star run about I'm slowly restoring little by little. I love old boats just like I love old vehicles. For one they were built so much better than just about anything out there. Also, you can work on them and parts are cheap in comparison. My boat is far from perfect but it sure gets a lot of compliments from all age groups but especially from Boomers lol. I see people in their new $50-100k plus boats and sure, they look and perform amazing but I love how unique and old school boat is. You just don't see old tri hulls, especially in decent shape, running around. Thanks for the share!! I very much enjoy videos where I can actually hear the engine(s), especially diesels and even more especially twin Detroits. There's no other sound like that.

The electrical system needs to be checked for electrical leakage. All of the underwater running gear had a pink color to it. This is called dezincification which is what happen to bronze when electricity is flowing in or out of the boat.

Looks like a Sante Fe freight train. I have a 37 with 6V92's, and had some earlier issues like that....you either have an over fueling (injectors) or starving for air issue. Not a big deal, but I would definitely have that addressed before posting for sale!

About 40 yrs ago I had a 36 Tiffany with 6V 53;s rated at 165 HP it also maxed out at 2800 rpm. cranking those little motors up to 400 hp the next owner will be lucky to get 50 hours before he starts blowing cylender O rings.

Then again, there are thousands of sensible operating owners out there running these motors in 400 hp calibration with thousands of hours on them. The reason for blowing these (and any) motors up is 99% of the times found between the seat and the throttles. Run them light, they run for ever and have the capability to do fast runs when needed. Reliable engines in the hands of a knowledgeable captain.

Thank you very much for the positive feedback, much appreciated! This video was made to be a part of a complete presentation video before finally selling the boat, but it looks like a buyer found the boat before we even listed it for sale. We will make a full presentation including this sea trial part before the boat leaves, so stay tuned.

Main ships are a lot of boat for the money! They build them on a production line using standard off the shelf parts to lower costs. I have never Heard any owner complaints. Super day cruisers and weekenders.

Yeah, I knew the owner of this boat and had been on it a lot when I was a kid. So he did finally sell it... it was a fun boat to be on. Amazingly, when I was young I tubed off this thing :D Hearing them amazed everything worked is amusing since he took care of that boat and worked on it a bunch. The awning you see there was an addon so we could sit and float and not get burned to a crisp but still be outside. However, I do remember when we had to drop in the engine compartment that was NOT fun to be in. I cannot believe I found this on youtube while looking for something similar!
