There used to be a jewish trading community living in the Kerala coastal town of Kollam in the 9th century called "Anchuvannam". This was mentioned in the Tharissappally copper plates given to the migrant West Asian christian community called "Nasranies" to Kollam by the Venad kingdom ruler in 849 CE. Hope the Israeli embassi in India will take some interest in unearthing further historical records about this community.

Everyone are welcome in India whether Jew, Christian, Parsi, Budhhist, Taoism, Shinto, Muslim, Hindu, Pagan or Atheist or Vegan .. Just keep your religion and mindset to yourself. Despite the general Communist dislike of religion, it some seem that Castro tolerated Jews fairly well. Perhaps to show that he was not a Fascist. Stalin did not.

I am an American Jew. Maybe 20 years ago I visited Cuba and also visited the Patronato. I brought them medicines from USA. Very sweet people. Curiously, originally, under the Spanish and the Catholic Church, Jews were not allowed in Cuba. Only later did the community develop. It is a very proud and good community.
