Beautiful indeed along with the artwork very colorful as well. Many have covered Michael Nesmith song 🎶 but justice was done to this particular version.😊

Very nice Len. I need to watch it on a bigger screen though. The cell phone won't cut it.
Sounds like a good menu track for a modern 32-bit game 👍

It was used some years ago for a monster in a children’s play. Earned me an award from the local arts council. Children’s shows are great fun to compose for. Make it a bit danceable. Kids love to shake it.

This was a Covid song I wrote after an online conversation with Taylor Burton lamenting the absence of live gigs. It drifts into other topics but that’s poetry in motion. It is a pretty good example of lessons other composers teach such as write on an instrument you are comfortable with most of the time although be familiar with what other instruments do and what you want to do with them. Second, don’t use too many ideas (clutter) and save the best stuff for later. This really applies at transitions or what literary folk mean by beats in the narrative or scene. A beat is something like a closeup where the character goes silently to a window and puts their head down or raises an eyebrow. It is a transition to a change in the story arc. Getting these right builds dramatic intensity to feelings being evoked prior to that. It is very very important to use your ears as eyes and see the movie in your mind. In this song, I used a single slide part on the Strat to introduce the line arpeggio that is the spine of the arrangement doubled on the Strat and a Richenbacher 12 string. Then the melody is introduced on the Godin nylon ending with a scale ascent to introduce the vocal. The nylon leaves the scene like a support character and doesn’t return.. So far very Beatle. God bless, Paul Mc. I learned most of what I know about bass arranging from working with Stephen Weber. He is a fastidious brilliant musician who writes bass lines both supporting and melodic. It is easy to spot a bass player who is also a good vocalist and studies his craft. For this song I am playing bass on the piano using the pick patch for clear articulation. The bass part is the sidekick to the main character in every scene guiding the main character. It should be expressive but not showy. The piano part is background sparkling some what like people one sees brightly dressed strolling behind main characters. They don’t drive the narrative. They add depth of field and color. Obviously we are using our guitars as characters to support the main character, the vocal. Never upstaging even in counterpoint: this is vital. As Michael McAnally taught me and too few players learn early, we are there to backup a singer. If a player doesn’t learn that they have no place in a studio session Then at the first break, Rick Van Nostrand enters with a tasty blues a la slow hand Clapton. Holding it until that moment shifts the texture from classical to blues and sets up the vocal for a more lonesome lament and that high lonesome is the point of the narrative. It works. Don’t show off chops. Tell the story.
