Hi, I've just got a Crave and am trying to work out how to send CV from VCVRack to it. I've got MIDI sending already using CV to MIDI from VCVRack. I haven't taken the plunge on an audio interface yet. For your LFOs and the Walk, do you have a DC-coupled interface with at least 3 outputs (I assume 4), and they appear in the AUDIO module for mapping each of the CV sources? Then those outputs sent into the Crave as shown? Something like the MOTU M4? Thanks.

An observation re the comments made around 11:05 in this otherwise excellent and highly instructional vid. - the bug no longer seems to be an issue, ( I'm using VCV Rack 2.4.1 and Expert Sleepers ES-9 firmware 1.3.1), so there is no longer any need to feed a >1V source into the ES-5 virtual module at jacks 2 and 5, (it is still important to feed only the ES5 virtual module's jack 1 from the 8GT virtual module and only the ES5 virtual module's jack 4 from the 8CV virtual module though, or the set up described, won't work). Also, I have found that it's similarly vital to set the Audio 16 VCV Rack module's "Rate" to 44.1kHz, since if left at the default 48kHz (as in the vid), the real-world jacks on my ESX-8CV module go purple, (and belch out some form of audio-rate junk), rather than visibly alternating red/blue as shown in the vid., when fed with a reasonable rate LFO signal. Hope this helps others who got stuck at this point as I did.
@ianderrick2257 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, just noticed that you point this out yourself (no longer any need for >1V bug killer) in a response to another comment. My 44.1 KHz “Rate” observation in Audio 16 still stands though. 😮

my microphone records some clicking sounds and it is vcv rack-specific, is there a way to filter these clicks out
@paulpiko2 жыл бұрын
You could use a filter or EQ to remove clicks, but what is the source of them? Is there something else interfering? Is the signal too hot?
@qantuum75672 жыл бұрын
@@paulpiko i don't think so, there is no interference, no heat, my micrphone is connected by usb. my hypothesis is, there are some clicks due to my old usb socket, maybe some connection instability, and vcv goes out of its way to exaggerate the volume of these clicks, while the other apps I use (ie Audacity and OBS) probably silence those clicking sounds,

Man, I could really use your help, to understand something that I've searched and couldn't find the answer yet. You have Southpole modules in your patch and I would love to have some modules from the early versions of VCV, but I don't see how to achieve that and I explain. I was somewhat late to find VCV and the first version I've downloaded, was already 1. something and I've never seen a Southpole module, until I watched it in some You Tube videos and realized that in the 1.1.6 version they were no longer available. First question, do you have them because you could keep them through the upgrades ? If yes, is that the way it worked in VCV 0.3 and on ? The real help would be, for you to know (and tell me), if there is a way, of downloading the earlier versions of VCV's modules to use in 1.1.6 version ? I've downloaded and installed, a 0.5 version but it replaces the 1.1.6. That is why, when I saw your patch, I was amazed and hopeful, to see that you still have Southpole modules (I am assuming that your patch was made with a 1.1.6 version). Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on the matter.

In early versions of VCV Rack, there was no download library that exits today. All third party plugins had to be obtained directly from the original author, possibly via their github page. When the Rack download library was implemented, some authors did not have the time or inclination to add their plugins. The major version number of the plugin has to match the Rack version; a 1.n.n plugin won't work outside Rack 1, a 2.n.n plugin won't work outside Rack 2. Southpole 0.6 is in the Rack download library. Versions for Rack 1 and 2 haven't been submitted to the library. However, there are links to Southpole for Rack 1 in the southpole github, issue #36 "Migrate to Rack v1.0". The southpole github repository is gbrandt1 southpole-vcvrack. The downloaded plugin can be installed using the steps in the VCV Rack online manual. Experimental Rack 2 builds for Win and Mac are in github issue #55 "Southpole V2 build (Windows only)" If you need more information, this is probably more easily discussed in the VCV Rack community forum or discord.

Great Video. Do exist some possibility to make Ableton slave sync with send hardware master clock with dc coupled inputs ? Or do You have other Idea how to clock ableton as slave with modular hardware with es-9 without MIDI ES-9
@paulpiko3 жыл бұрын
If you are using VCV Rack there's a module that helps link with Ableton library.vcvrack.com/StellareModular-Link/Link. Another way is to send the output of a pulse wave (generated by Rack, or replaying a sample WAV) to Ableton, and sync with that. www.ableton.com/en/blog/midi-cv-link-sync-many-ways-connecting-modular-gear-live/

I did get the full comment in an email, and I have the service manual now, thanks. Reading the manual is certainly a good idea, but not as much fun 😃 You can delete this comment if you wish, it might be confusing to others who read comments, but it was the only way I could find to reach you and thank you for your comment.
