The second base ISO of 2500iso on the FX30 is great and pretty clean. But why not just add some light to gain a few stops on darker scenes especially if you’re shooting indoors? Shooting higher ISO’s and pretend that magically the image is going to look amazing it’s pretty unrealistic and therefore will give noise patterns. I feel like this higher ISO’s on Sony cinema line cameras help on certain scenarios but not all the time. Lighting is key obviously. The 12800 ISO on the FX6 is pretty wild but pretty noise on times. I’ll definitely prefer the 800 ISO on many scenarios. Cheers
@RonaldKasperКүн бұрын
Hi! I totally agree! I avoid 12.800 whenever I can and try to light my scene so that I can use 800 instead. But for scenarios where this is not possible (shooting outside, on rund and gun documentaries etc.) ISO 12.800 is nice to have.

All CFExpress manufacturers indicate VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) on the card, which can be 200 or 400. And only Pergear does not write this value. Even the cheapest cards indicate this value. I would also like to note that the reading speed is not particularly important for videographers. The writing speed is more important, which is higher for Sony than for Pergear.
@RonaldKasper2 күн бұрын
I don’t know what you mean. Pergear has VPG200 which can be seen on the product page: www.pergear.com/products/cfexpress-type-a-1tb/?ref=dKdKQ I explained what read and write speeds are for in the video, but for me the read speed is quite important as well when I want to transfer hundreds of gigabytes on my computer.

And here it is. Cine EI only lets you film in your base ISO value, let's say this is 800. Lowering the EI from 800 to 400 is like applying monitoring-LUTs on your camera's monitor. They show the image one stop darker (like it was filmed with 400 ISO) but the camera still records in 800. That way you can overexpose what you are filming a bit (by recording it with the bright value of 800) but already see what it will look like after you've brought it down in your editing software by one stop (so that it looks like filmed with 400). That "bring down in post" is very helpful when you film in dark environments. Filming it brighter and reducing the brightness in post gets you cleaner shadows.

This is a super great, informative, and to the point video / explanation. I know its been a couple years.. but hopefully you see this and can help. As a content creator that does record up close, can you please advise the best camera, and/or lens that maybe will allow to record close with the least distortion.?? Little info: I can record on TikTok with my old iphone 11 basic. Horizontal or vertical. No filter. Face looks regular. Looks fine. Record with my camera app on phone. Vertical=fine. Horizontal = badly asymmetrical and weird. Now my face isn’t symmetrical. But it is isnt crazy as it is that way. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
@RonaldKasper5 күн бұрын
Hi! I watched some of your videos and to be honest, I don't think that your horizontal videos look asymmetrical or weird. But if you're looking for a camera upgrade to your phone, I would start with a cheap one like the Sony ZV-E10 and buy an lens, that has almost no distortion. The "Laowa 10mm Zero-D" would be great for that. Or basically any "Zero-D" lens from Laowa.
@CariLouASMR34 күн бұрын
@ wow!!! 🙏 I seriously can not thank you enough!! You went above and beyond and im so grateful! I was eyeing that camera, and will check out the lens you mentioned. I appreciate you said looks ok, but may be because i film using tiktok then save to phone. That’s what is weird to me. I dont use any filter or anything on tiktok.. just turn horizontal and record. And it looks normal. Phone camera in its own.. so strange and not flattering. Lol.

@@CariLouASMR3Hi again! The kit lens is fine as well. It’s a zoom lens that starts at 16mm so it’s wide enough for vlogging and the type of content you create. It’s a f3.5 so it‘s not the best for low light environments, but again for your situation it should be fine because you film in bright locations.

Oh dear! Do you know what monitoring LUTs are? Think of Cine EI as one of these who only affect what you see in your monitor but they don’t affect your recorded footage.
@nomadikmind397918 күн бұрын
@@RonaldKasper yeah i get that. But then apparently the ei setting can change the exposure and you have to calculate for that, and then how do i really know if the recorded image is exposed how i want? when i change the ei, the multimeter changes and so does the histogram
@RonaldKasper18 күн бұрын
You can change in the monitoring settings of the camera, whether the waveform changes with the EI value or not. When you set HDMI Out to mLUT, it changes like seen in my video. When you set it to slog3, it monitors the slog3 signal and does NOT change when you change the EI value

I am not an expert but from my own experience I would say that Wide Angle Lens do distort faces but only in the corners. You did your tests standing in the middle of a frame. The result should be different if you stood in the corners. Isn't it?

I was wondering if you would be able to answer a question about the batter grip as I can't see any information about it anywhere and ifootage customer support don't seem to answer any of my questions. They just keep sending me a link to your video, which is great but doesn't show what I needed to know. Here is what I write to them: The Godox ML100Bi has a normal barrel plug to plug the mains into a wall and also a usb c power socket but doesn't have a usb c cable included with it. What I would need to know though is would the ifootage battery grip supply my light to reach 100% power when using a usb c cable? The light is 120watt and the battery grip is 140watt, so I know the power is there but will it travel through a usb c cable for the light to work at full power if needed? Would I need to purchase a specific usb c cable?
@RonaldKasper26 күн бұрын
That will depend a lot on how many Volts your light needs for powering it. My Amaran 200x needs 48 Volts but the battery grip can only provide a maximum pf 28 Volts at 5 Ampere. Check if this is enough for your light, I assume it’s not. The Wattage alone is not enough information.

You can set in the monitoring section of the Fx6 whether you want to send the slog3 footage over HDMI or SDI to your EXTERNAL monitor (which doesn’t change at all when you change the EI value) or the signal with the LUT applied (which changes when you change the EI value).
