How will it be to visit around 5th March ? Will we experience frequent storms during that time ?

Do you need a credit card? Or will debit card be fine?
@guidetonorwayАй бұрын
This may depend on your country but both debit and credit should work. Which I at least find great since I don’t normally use a credit card, which is often required by most car rental agencies.

Hi...will december be a good time
@guidetonorwayАй бұрын
For what specifically? It depends what you like to do. December is very quiet in Lofoten and the days are short but it’s one of the most beautiful months of the year if you ask me. Of course, this assumes a little bit good weather. So your experience may vary 😄

Hello, is this hike safe in late october? Or is the entire landscape and trail covered in snow by then?
@guidetonorway3 ай бұрын
While we might get a thin layer of fresh snow during the night up in the mountains around that time it’s not going to stick. You might encounter some icy sections, though, so consider bringing lightweight microspikes just in case but most likely you will not need it, and if you do, only on short sections in the morning or on north facing trails. Happy hiking! Ivar

Thanks for this detailed guide. We are planning to visit lofoten islands in November. Will be travelling Finland and Norway covering Oslo, tromso, lofoten islands and Bergen. Do you have any tips how to travel to lofoten easily given it’s our first time there and not confident to drive during winter season.

My partner and I will be there from 20/10 to 24/10 - we have planned on doing several hikes and are (obviously) hoping to see the Northern Lights. I hope the weather holds up for us.

Is it unlimited mileage? And also, can I drive to other countries?
@guidetonorway4 ай бұрын
No that’s the disadvantage with G. Only 200 or so km a day. Check their terms for specifics since the daily mileage changes depending on how many days you book. It should be possible to drive in neighbouring counties but double check this with their terms and also with the specific rental to be sure.

Hi sir, informative video. Can I drive from tromso to lofoten by car all the way? If yes, how long will it take?
@guidetonorway5 ай бұрын
Yes you can. It takes about 7-8 hours to drive from T to Svolvær, which is the easternmost city in Lofoten. Longer in winter.

Hi! Not sure if you’ll see this comment anytime soon but i need help regarding the car rental. I read on the rental t&c about cross-border/boundary rules whereby i may need to inform the car company about bringing my rental car on ferry/boats. Does it effect my insurance for the? Do i have to pay extra to the rental company or something? 😅
@guidetonorway5 ай бұрын
Hi! I have never heard about anyone needing to do this before. But if that´s their t&c, then you should probably do that. What company are you using? They may want to connect their vehicle to their ferry discount system. Would be interesting to know their reason :) Cheers, Ivar
@konstantinospapadopoulos43365 ай бұрын
If you take a car inside the ferry do you only pay for the car ? Because on the website i just get to add the passengers
@guidetonorway5 ай бұрын
You only pay for the car. On the Torghatten website you can add a vehicle and amount of passengers, but the passengers are for free

@guidetonorway5 ай бұрын
If you don´t want to rent a car in winter in December then you could take the Bodø - Svolvær speed boat and join a day tour to Reine with Lofoten Lights, for example. This way you can see "all of Lofoten" even in two days. Cheers, Ivar

Thank you!! :) Do you have any information about what are the rules if our dog is paralyzed? He is using a wheelchair. Is it possible to carry him in a bag? :/ Thank you :)
@guidetonorway6 ай бұрын
I think you better contact Torghatten about this. The reason you cannot have your dog in the lounge area is that they serve food there. However, they may be willing to make an exception to the rule for your dog, but better contact them directly to get it in written. good luck! 😊

GREAT Video, thank you for this valuable information! I do not have a vehicle, am using public transportation, have 8 days (late June 2024) to get from Bodo to Svolvaer via Rost-Vaeroy-Moskones. I am REALLY interested in the BEST recommended long/big/moderate-hard hikes including at Vaeroy, Reine, and between Moskenes and Svolvaer. What areas would you suggest I focus my limited days? How can I purchase your Camping Map Guide? Thank you, Mike (from Colorado, US)

Hi Mike! Thank you for watching. What´s the best hikes in Lofoten? Well, we feature about 50 of them in our Hiking and Camping maps so you should definitely check one of those out. The Camping Edition also has a few discount codes so it quickly ends up paying for itself: guidetolofoten.com/product/map-of-lofoten-best-of-edition/ If you follow us on Facebook we will inform you when our new service is made available this summer with ferry transportation from Moskenes to all the different accommodations in Western Lofoten. Thank you and see you in Lofoten this summer! Cheers, Ivar

@guidetonorway10 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! So you are flying past Lofoten to a different part of the country only to drive almost 500 km back to the place you could have flown to in the first place. That´s not easy. It's very scenic, though. Make sure you drive the route through Senja and Vesterålen. Just be mindful of the long ferry lines at the Gryllefjord ferry. You will not be alone there. Ivar

We went to Lofoten for two weeks in July 2023, and were aware the roads would be busy, but they weren't as bad as we'd expected. The weather was fabulous, with beautiful clear skies, and the roadside verges were full of wildflowers. It hadn't occurred to us that, because the sun doesn't set, the earth doesn't get a chance to cool down, so it was warm at night as well as light. The midnight sun didn't bother us, even with curtains open. And it was so warm we ran out of short-sleeved tops.

Hey guys great video, it helped me a lot so thanks ! I have one question… I’m planning to take a ferry and visit the Lofoten on the beginning of February. But when I look on the website (Torghatten-Nord) It’s saying that there is no connection on the date I chose ( February 4th 2024 ) Can you help me ?

I love Norway and like your very informative videos but your percentage savings are completely wrong as they cannot exceed 100%. If a rental car costs €472 and one from Getaround costs €46 then it is 46/472 or 9.7% of the original price, thus you save 90.3% of the original price or (1-46/472 )×100. Conversely, the rental car is 472/46 = 10.3 times or (10.3-1) x100 = 930% greater than Getaround. Regards Rik.

Hi Ivar, is it possible for me to catch the ferry 15 minutes before departure from Moskenes to Bodø? I plan to stay in À and take the 7 a.m. ferry (Based on winter schedule). However, since I'll be using a bus from À and the bus is expected to arrive in Moskenes at 6:41 a.m. Thanks in advance

It should be ok since the bus is supposed to correspond with the ferry
