Thanks for the review. What lav mic are you using currently? Are you using another wireless system with it? Also how do you like it so far?
@DanielDebenham3 күн бұрын
Currently using the RODE lav mics with it. I think they are £50 on amazon. Really like the set up tbf I've got quite a few lavs at various price points ranging from £1000s down to this and it's the system I've been using for the past few months. Really like it.

Thanks for sharing Daniel. Much appreciated. I have a few questions for you three years after you posted this if you don't mind? How good is the eTTL? Is it consistent? i.e. can I set it to give a nice degree of fill and get the same result every shot? Does it take rechargeable batteries, and if yes, can they be charged in situ? I'd rather not have to carry a charger when away from home if possible. I have a V1 which is rechargeable, and holds its charge for a remarkably long time! Regards reliability, both of my 580EX 2s died years ago with the problem that seems to affect most of them eventually. (the eTTL stops working, and they deliver a full power blast, but they still work in manual mode. I have some PJ friends (I worked as a commercial photographer) and they recommended Godex, so I have had a V1 for several years now. I still have my DSLRs (a 1DC and 5DS) but I bought an R7 last year for travelling, and I 'hate' not having a speedlite. In fact you did mention speedlites as an accessory people begrudge buying, but I tell people if I lost all my gear, and had to start again, a speedlite would be my very first accessory. Thanks again for the video, and I like that you have answered so many questions. Way to go! (as we say here in NZ)

Hey Trevor! In my experience the eTTL is consistant shot to shot once set. It does take rechargeable batteries however it wont charge them, so you'd need a charger. Godox equipment is pretty good to be fair to them and is improving all the time. Yeah, I agree I think folks don't get them because they don't really understand how useful they are. I had a 5Ds - great camera and i love the R7! Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! 🤜👍

@@DanielDebenham Thanks Daniel. I'm thinking that decent Lithium batteries have a lot more capacity than rechargeable batteries, so I think I'll put a couple of spare sets in my bag when travelling

A lot of reviews of this tripod fail to mention that while the manufacturer says it is rated for thirty pounds, that is simply a gross exaggeration. This tripod is not for larger lenses, and is simply not engineered for larger equipment. There is far too much deflection in the legs for anything but standard and wide angle lenses on smaller camera bodies. Also, when spreading the legs out to the second setting, the tripod simply becomes unusable. This tripod simply does not offer the stability that can be expected from Gitzo, Manfrotto, or the better Slik models.

Not sure where your getting this info from. Ive used this with pro bodies with 500mm lenses on, even had a rigged up RED Monstro on it with no issues.

@@DanielDebenham ! I bought one because the reviews were positive and it was simply disappointing in that respect. As this review says, I got the Corey model. I don't know whether the other models are better, but I would not put a five hundred dollar lens on this tripod!

For filmmaking would you recommend the Canon R5C or the Sony FX6?
@DanielDebenham5 ай бұрын
Fx6 is massive by comparison. But then the R5c loves a battery 🤣 it really boils down to what you're using it for and what with ie are you using it with other sony camera etc, do you want to be inconspicuous (fx6 is big) etc etc. Both are good cameras but its very subjective - what works for me might not work for all your tasks. I'd try them both if possible (rent first) to get a good idea.

Nice review man but maybe just a device that I heard before that is nice to know too, when you speak, try to reduce or completely don't errr, it make the video less polished! But I need some advices from you too, if I want to document everyday, travel, KZbin contents with behind and distance talk, want to move into game and music making too, I will get the Panasonic HC-X1500 camcorder 25-600mm F1.8-4 for video and Sony A7RV with 16-35mm F4 PZ mainly for photo, and audio gears I will get Sennheiser MKE 440, MKE 600, Line Audio CM4 and Deity HD-TX, are these good setup? I think better get either an actual pocketable RX100 VII camera or proper size A7RV camera since it provide better qualities and usabilities like unique 4 ways screen and also cameras in between of these sizes still need to carry in bag but I not sure should I reduce the projects I want to photograph like macro since we can just google them and let these specialists achieve them and I can just get an always with me RX100 VII? I hope there is a left handed camera so I can film on one hand and photograph on another when I want to, but I come up with the idea to film with DJI P3 when using A7RV and photograph with iPhone 15 when film with HC-X1500, good or there is alternative? I will use the MKE 440 stereo mic for video, MKE 600 shotgun mic to record elements for developments and CM4 pencil condenser for vocal and instruments and HD-TX as recorder but I not sure how to record my behind the camera commentary at same time, if I can just get one between MKE 600 and CM4 by extract mono track from one of the MKE 440 stereo mics if I don't have fully sound treated room and also if the recorder is right for me?

I picked up the Godox TT685 several months ago to use for macro work. I've been very happy with it. My daughter wanted a flash to use for macro as well, and I decided to get her the 350 as it's small, lighter and has simpler controls. Just got it yesterday and I have taken a few test shots with it. I'm very impressed with it. While I love my 685, I would be perfectly happy with this smaller unit as my only flash for macro shooting. Despite the lower guide number, it seems to have plenty of power for closeup work. Particularly like that it comes with some very useful accessories. FYI the cold shoe included has a 1/4 - 20 thread on the bottom so you can attach it to a standard tripod thread and easily mount your flash to a tripod.

Even when recording in 4K, the sensor is feeding 8K data to the camera computer, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised that energy consumption is so high. All that data needs tremendous computing power.

Great review mate, very much appreciated for your time. Although I like the flipside concept and I am a 'kitchen sink' photographer (probably 450 would be more suited to me) having the bag at the front with majority of my kit wont it sag down? I'd like to see how this bag compares with the Mind Shift 180 rotation as that system is my preference. In particular to keep my gear more balanced. Any thoughts?

Thanks mate. Yeah, i think the 450 might sink a little if it were full. Its a good idea and works well on the 350, but thats limited in space. Though i will say the straps feel strong and supportive. Ive not used a mind shift, I'll have to check them out and do a review. 👍
