The Mack Sennett ballet from "High Button Shoes" (I've only seen the tape ONCE at Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts) is perhaps the funniest number EVER! Hilarious and simple on stage in front of the audience, with everyone running in and out of doors, but utter chaos backstage since Phil Silvers couldn't be relied upon to follow instructions.

Excuse me! "Peter Pan" predates "West Side Story" by about three years.

i was walking home from school one day and there was this guy carrying all his books home so i ran across the road and he got scared and dropped a few of his books (he got bullied and probably thought that i was gonna hurt him) i picked up the books and asked "why do you have all you books" he replied with "if im being honest (he pauses and his eyes start watering) i was gonna see the light at the end of the tunnel today" i hug him and tell him im sure there is another way come with me, so we walked to a park a few streets away and sit down, he tells me that he had been bullied from when he first started school at age 5 because he had long-ish curly hair and he was smarter (i mean way smarter) than all the other 5 yr olds (one thing that i didn't realise is that i had known him since that class as a 5 yr old) he told me that he wanted to be strong for his family but he couldn't handle it anymore and he also went on to say that this year (2017) on the first day of school i wore a rainbow shirt and since im a guy "im not allowed to" and i told him "you wear that shirt and you wear it with pride, weather you are a guy or girl, tall or short, slim or bigger, gay or straight, no matter who you are, you be proud of who you are, if your smart don't let the simple minded dumb people get to you, if you need help speak up and ask for it, because no matter who you are (i pause) no one can change that (fullstop)" he looked at me with hope in his eyes and said "thank you" (repeats 5 times) i told him to wear his rainbow shirt to school the next day and he said "but something is gonna happen" i replied "no nothing will trust me". i went home and looked through the school news letter and found some of the teachers phone numbers i called them and asked them to wear something if it was a t shirt pants or shoes or just something with a rainbow on it and i explained why, then i texted my friends and told them the same thing. the next day i turned up to school with all the teachers wearing a rainbow, all my friends wearing a rainbow, and just over half the school wearing a rainbow. it was a Friday and we have a Friday assembly every Friday, the principal told me and the bullied boy to come up to the stage he told the boy to sit down on the chair next to me, and he handed me a microphone and just said "talk, share you thoughts" i went on to share the boys story (and a few more things about him i don't feel comfortable to say online) and brought the whole school to tears. while talking to the school i made eye contact with the bully and mouthed "why" he mouthed back "im sorry, im so so soooooo sorry" he started tearing up and i felt proud of myself not only did i help the boy but a few kids i have never spoke to before came up to me and said "thank you, you gave me the strength and the words i needed to here to stand up in what i believe in and stand up to my bully" i said "there is no need to thank me but if i didn't do it no one would have and the boy that was on stage would not be here to day, im not a hero i am just a kind person, and there needs to be a lot more "heros" in the world than there is"
