Che grande voce, uno spettacolo, peccato non averlo potuto ascoltare dal vivo, grande tenore drammatico a mio avviso secondo a nessuno, con quella potenza vocale e fiati incredibili i vari Pavarotti e company se li mangiava in un sol boccone, grande maestro Giacomini RIP

Anche il grande Giacomo Lauri Volpi cantava, ai suoi tempi, l'Otello e, a detta della critica, con risultati entusiasmanti. Egli era un tenore lirico spinto.

*@mk5244* If I am grateful for anything , I am grateful FC never sang Otello live with his poor diction . Bad enough he choose to sing a couple of Trovatore , good he dropped the Trovatore after just five or six years .Diction is important in Verdi ,and most important in Otello with the many soliloquies .Corelli had his strengths ,not the last of them was that he could do some dynamics while other tenors like MDM couldn't ,but diction wasn't one of his strengths I agree with *@falfink* , Corelli's voice deteriorated when he got older .More to the point would be to say it seemed that something happened to him in the very late 1960s ,the voice deteriorated brusquely .He stuck it for another five years or so ,after which he retired

The obsession with controlling his voice (unlike Del Monaco or Ramon Vinay) is what made him sacrifice beauty and power. He has spectacular sounds and some really ugly ones. A great singer and actor.

I want to add something else, with 20 some years, you dont have your voice well structured yet to sing opera. She forced her voice, due to what ever reason, and she killed it. And after that, she started rubbing films in italy and she retaired. So, how can anyone say, the best soprano ever, the best Don Carlo ever. But I'm saying these in my very humble opinion. I'm an old guy who does not nothing about opera.

A parte l Otello a mio parere Vickers è qualcosa di sublime nella Walchiria come Siegmund li sempre a mio parere è insuperabile è proprio il suo personaggio in assoluto...e sottolineo anche nel Sansone e Dalila ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Del Monaco and Corelli are hard to beat here, but the two most moving portrayals I have seen, the first in person and the second in a video, are Del Monaco and Vickers.
