man, i think the scripting for the activity or the station in general is extremely touchy. at masaki at 25:00, go too far beyond that stopping point (even just beyond that signal) and you're marked as "off path" and can't continue the activity, with no apparent way to get back on track.

at 53:58, i went forwards instead of backwards first, and then the game refused to automatically switch tracks. i manually switched, but at some point i triggered the "Out of Control:SPAD" message on the track monitor and the scripting for the activity stopped working. i was able to get to yoshimatsu station, but while i was going there the station monitor didn't give me the distance to the station and when i got there, the activity didn't end. any ideas on what happened?

To be honest, I'm disappointed with Microsoft and Kuju with the default Northeast Corridor they made for MSTS. They picked [in my opinion] the most boring section of the entire route by choosing the Washington to Philadelphia section. But even with that, they did an absolutely horrible job recreating it. Many stations, yards and sidings are straight-up missing and the trackwork is inaccurate. It really should've been a section that featured the Northeast Corridor north of Philadelphia featured as a default MSTS route, maybe [an accurate version of] New Haven to Boston since that was recently electrified for the first time when MSTS was released and was where the Acelas could hit their fastest speeds at that time. Or if that would've been to much to ask for, then an accurate version of Boston to Providence featuring the proper track work and all of the stations, yards and sidings.

Neat how at 2:50 is you too right into the tunnel portal you can see the void of the map you can't see behind the scenery. Also at 11:20, why bother going over the crossover to the track on the left, and back into the same right track? The train could have just avoided the crossover?

Hi there sir, pardon me for the late response. If I get right what you're asking, that's a camera setting, if I don't recall wrongly, you touch that option with CTRL + V while playing (but better confirm that on the manual, etc.). It's a setting that simulate some visual vibration in the train, and you have basically 4 levels, being the first one the default one: no camera move whatsoever. I always played with that setting in level 2, which is the slightest one, higher levels makes me dizzy.

I have a question, what is the function of the throttle showing B1-B8?
@driver8339
@driver8339 Жыл бұрын
Hi @Rico, that is the Dynamic Brake. The difference versus the usual "Train Brake", is that the Dynamic Brake uses the inertia of the train to try to stop it but is not a "mechanical brake" per se, as the "Train Brake" is, and hence, the wheels doesn't get hot from friction, as there's no friction. Nevertheless, the Dynamic Brake sometimes isn't enough to stop the train. The Dynamic Brake is only useful in certain situations.

It is always black unless I open firebox door, then it is grey. I tried dampers and blower it seems that they have no effect on the smoke. Do you use some mods or I just missed something? I'm afraid that you can't :/ you'll have to use your imagination on collisions. I know that when you hit the wodden thing at the end of the rails, the train is stopped to 0 km/h, but that doesn't happen with other trains. Open Rails have a bit of "honor system" within, also it won't make you de-rail, never, but, if you take curves at a high speed for that curve, it will make you aware at that moment, and also in the final report.

How does applying and releasing the brakes makes you go from that standstill ?
@driver8339
@driver8339 2 жыл бұрын
Despiting how I managed the situation in the video (now I would do it a bit differently), the correct procedure here would be to, when the wheels slip, apply full brakes. Then, without releasing the brakes, increase throttle, to maybe 6, then release the brakes, then maybe go to 7, always checking the wheel slip warning, if there's no warning, you can switch to 8, otherwise, you go down in throttle.

@@driver8339 yes I understand, but I want to understand if this would work in reality or it's just a quirck of the game.
@driver8339
@driver8339 2 жыл бұрын
 @Mircea-Christian Albu it makes total sense to work that way. If you apply SUDDEN GREAT force to a wheel in a slippery surface, it will slip, but if you apply a regular force, SLOWLY, that means, you don't apply it suddenly, but sequentially, it will help to not slip, with the added help of the sand. This effect is achieved by having the brakes applied, then releasing them while applying a regular force. See, the brakes aren't released instantly, that doesn't exist, it takes some time to get released, some seconds, maybe 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 seconds, depending on the system. Through that time, brakes go to 100% to 0%, which means, force to the wheels gets applied in a sort of stepped way, a continuous way, that helps to get no slip. Here's a video of a real situation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4mmd3ukr8qYmdE

@@driver8339 nice video, thx. What I don't get is, in the game, you were crawling in notch 7 or 8 before you stopped, so constant force, yet not enough, the train was just too heavy, that's why you stopped in notch 8. I don't get how you magically get more traction from a standstill afterwards, in real life there's a physical limit on how much you can grip before you wheelspin forever :P
