I remember one of my sergeants jokingly calling our engineer 113's 'tracked grenades'. I remember the sliding spall liner panels that also served as doors for storage. When I got to be a platoon commander's driver at Hohenfels it was luxury sharing the entire vehicle with an LT. What sucked was without a squad the maintenance fell solely to me as help would always become scarce when breaking track.
