The second time will be much better. Keep some of your fuzzy milk as a starter in the fridge. Mix it with fresh raw milk and leave it at the room temperature for a couple of days.

if raw milk never goes bad, why do they pasteurize it?
@libertymissionfarmsllc8651 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, well, this is a longer answer but I'll try to make it short. They pasteurize milk not to keep it from going bad, they do it because the cows raised in unfit conditions make for milk that is contaminated, so the pasteurization process kills the bacteria - but it also kills the natural, healthy bacteria. Therefore, if you sit pasteurized milk on your counter for a week, it will go sour and bad and will perhaps make you very sick or even kill you if you drink it, because both good and bad bacteria is gone so it spoils. Raw milk has both good and bad bacteria so if the process used to collect the milk is sanitary (and today, we have many means to ensure this unlike decades ago), the raw milk can sit on the counter indefinitely and never make you sick. It will be more tart and perhaps not as yummy, but it will not spoil.
@v.j.l.407311 ай бұрын
Well, if they don't pasteurize it, it would have to be consumed within a week or it won't be milk anymore, it will be something different. So commercially, they like to be able to keep products on the shelf longer, even refrigerated products.

Depends on how long they live. We kept two to be egg layers one year, at two years old they must have been 15 lbs! But normally we process at 9-10 weeks old and after processing the sold product weighs in at 5-7 lbs.

I recently started fermenting a mash feed with a few added whole grains (barley, oats, rye, sunflower seeds, peas, wheat) and it works great. After 3 days it's all nice and bubbly. I do add some dry mash to it to absorb the liquid so not to waste it. The chickens, ducks and quail love it.

I'm beyond happy they were completely sold out of all the other chicks because of that I was able to save a meat chick from her unavoidable demise, she would've been killed and eaten so I couldn't be more happy to have her in my very first flock where she'll be loved, cared for, and live out her whole life with no fear of ending up on my table❤🐤🥰. I would've saved more if I had the money💔, hopefully they still have some left or get more in stock by the time I get paid again!!

I drink my refrigeratorated milk up to 14-15 days after it is pulled from the cow. I put older milk than that on the counter to clabber and the milk solids (curds) separate from the whey ( cloudy milk water product). You can use whey for other cooking etc. My milk is new for clabber and took 7 days to separate milk solids and have whey
@vincentmaloney58352 ай бұрын
Yes, it works fine even after 4 or 5 days of refrigeration. I tried it myself. If you have the starter, it will take just a couple of days to make it sour. The second try is always better, because you already have the starter from the first one. I don't wash the glass jar after my clabber is gone and add some more raw milk in it to make one more gallon of clabber.

You are truly blessed. My husband and I talk about a homestead all the time. Just this last year we got chickens for the first time, just for eggs. We have a small backyard in a neighborhood. Oh how we would love land. We are a little older, not spring chickens. Life has had many many trails for us, most self inflicted from consequences of sinful choices. Even still we praise our Father for His grace and mercy. I pray one day in heaven we can work some land. Adam and Eve did have a garden to care for!

Correct, “than don’t drink milk at all” The human body has no more need for cows milk than it does for Dogs milk, Horses Milk, etc. Humans are the only mammal that for some reason consumes other mammals milk.
@hacgiaythiengia75164 жыл бұрын
K ev and humans are the only one wear clothes, go to school, invented internet and be the ruler of the animals kingdom. Cow’s milk is good because the grass is fermented in its 4 big stomaches, this process turns grass into amino acids. Horse/ goat/ camel milk is good, too. Dog eat rats and drink toilet water, nobody want their milk. If the cow eat grains, soys, corn, the milk is not as good as grass fed milk. Do you know that babies Panda is fed by cow’s milk for decades because their mother is too malnourished on a bamboo diet and can’t breast feed the babies properly? You should use science nutritions to talk about foods, not a story. If you think egg is chicken’s period, or vegetables grow from cow’s dung, you can’t eat anything.

Do you have any loss of the added vitamins and minerals that is usually in power form in the feed mix?
@libertymissionfarmsllc86514 жыл бұрын
That's the one thing we have been experimenting with. We have a double straining method so the minerals are collected. One thing we found is that the minerals almost "stick" to the grains so we find that the hens are likely getting more minerals this way than when we fed it dry. When dry, they go for the larger pieces of grains and flip the powdery minerals on to the ground. So far we don't feel like we have lost the minerals. But it does take some experimenting with the straining methods!
