Perhaps a silly question, but why did it need two enormous locos to maneuver one wagon ? Nice video though.
@SteveSmithRailways2 күн бұрын
Its a nuclear waste movement so has two locos in case one of them fails on the mainline. Its then no danger if the other loco can then move the consist forward.

Used to regularly see these coming onto Heysham power stations, the 68's started to turn up about 5 or 6 years ago and slowly but surely the 37's started to disapear, shame but life moves on. Interestingly the drivers werent sad to see the 37's go, the 68 has proper seats, they're clean and apparently have a heater that works, they did have to do some adjusting as the 68 is not as easy to shunt with the centre seat position. Great video
@SteveSmithRailways5 күн бұрын
@@nobbytart27 yes, progress eh. I do like the 68's and for a modern loco i would imagine they are popular with drivers. Miss the old girls though.

@SteveSmithRailways4 ай бұрын
@@fedelerinaldi6720 I dont use 3mm and not ply either. All brickwork is done using MDF and thickness depends on which scale I'm working with. Sounds like you are scoring too deep, hence with all the mortar lines, its weakened the ply.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder here if the comments below are to be believed, because all I'm seeing is a couple of old diesels, one of which doesn't seem to be working and the other of which is spewing out a lot of filthy fumes, faffing about in sidings with all of one wagon to deal with between them, finally sloping off gently in the direction of away.... What am I missing?

(I am likely repeating this...) When working in my 'first step up the ladder' as the Area Technical Officer at Colchester Area Assistant Civil Engineer's Office (behind the car-park building on the Down side), in the early 1970s the Norwich - Liverpool St trains were chiefly handled by 37s. The later 47s did not sound impressive... The 37s were REALLY opened-up so as to hit the foot of the climb through Stanway and on towards Marks Tey. (Orrhhh, where was me tape-recorder???)
