it is not instantaneous engagement, you forgot to mention that it gives a spongy feeling when engages which feels wierd after classic paw mechanisms. and there is no difference in free stroke between sprag and classic systems with paws if last one have more than 120 points of engagement.
@chimerabmx3 күн бұрын
@@jeffryLebovskyWhat sprag product did you use that felt spongy? Onyx Racing hubs offer instant and perfectly stiff engagement. Our setup does as well. Maybe the product you were using had sprags that weren't suited for the torque. Interested to know.
@jeffryLebovskyКүн бұрын
@@chimerabmx it was onyx vesper. can`t say that it was unridable or it was bad, it just felt weird. and compared to, for example, rf vault or any other 6 paw hub (100+ engagement points) onyx definitely had more flex. You are saying that it has "perfectly stiff engagement" but can`t agree with that at all. Sprag hubs are pretty heavy and pricy. The only bebefit of sprag is silence in my opinion. And it is the only reason people buy it, because classic hubs are annoyingly noisy. It will be interesting to see how sprag performs in trial, we need danny macaskill or fabio wibmer to test it))
@chimerabmxКүн бұрын
@@jeffryLebovskyInteresting you mention the Vesper. It uses a combo of 432Z and 432Z2 sprag. The Z is a 12mm but the Z2 is only 7mm wide, and can't handle as much torque. That's part of how they're able to make that hub lighter. By contrast, their other MTB hubs use a double 432Z system, which is substantially stronger. Try one sometime and see if you still feel a sponginess. For our purposes, noise is definitely an issue. Having a motor system with two pawel engagements together with the rear hub would sound like churning gravel 😂. But also we're well below the torque load spec for the pawls we use on the motor. So it feels stiff and instant for this use-case.

@@chimerabmx as i said earlier it is not a big problem, i think i can quickly get used to that. It was my first opinion when i tried it on my friends bike. onyx hubs are not very popular in my country, my friend had to pay about 1k usd for hub set and wait it for about 3 month. but silence.... it is something underrated, felt fantastic after my chainsaw sounding hub) hope i will try onyx classic heavy variant one day.

@@adamnjethro4080 52v = between 8 and 20 miles. 36V = between 20 and 40 miles. This range is if you're using THROTTLE ONLY. The bike pedals just as easily as any other bmx without motor assistance. So most riders get much farther range sometimes pedaling, sometimes throttling, and sometimes both.

So this is with the 52V battery correct? What about the 36V battery? Can it do this hill as well? I have some big hills on my way to work. It's only four miles away but two big hills and one monster hill along the way. I'm more interested in the hill climbing ability than the top speed or range.
@chimerabmx3 ай бұрын
@@alexmachine570 Great question! We haven't tested it on that kind of monster hill yet, though we have on less insane ones. The 36V can't output quite as much peak current, but it can output almost as much continuous current, which results in a lot of continuous power - like around 1800watts. So it's likely that the 36V could do monster hills as well.

Question, if I were to purchase this (I live in CT), where could I get it serviced? This is pretty much a one of a kind type bike-at the moment. Not saying it isn't worth the premium price, but a high end machine that cannot be serviced will be a low end machine very fast.
@chimerabmx3 ай бұрын
@@ralph833 Great question. This bike is very easy to service. It's actually part of the High-Drive patent. Because the system works with off-the-shelf bicycle hubs, rims, brakes, chains, cranks, bearings, etc, any bike shop should be able to service the usual wear items. As for the High-Drive system itself, it's modular. So if there's a motor issue, or a transmission issue, or a belt issue, swapping it out is simple. Although no one's reported any issues yet, we've been uploading explainer videos to our website to show how to swap out pulleys, belt, etc. Usually just requires a single wrench.
