Luther: I would rather drink blood with Rome. Rome: We don't drink the blood in the first place. Also Jesus does use the phrase 'this is' when explaining the different figures in parable of the sower and a couple other places so saying 'it's not a figure of speech Jesus uses' is an overstatement. There's also something a bit off about suggesting 'this is my body' shouldn't be seen as figurative while ignoring the implications that hermeneutic has for the next line of 'this cup is the new covenant in my blood.' No one assumes that the cup the wine is served in *is* the tangible embodiment of 'the new covenant' because we all intuitively pick up on the idea that the cup is standing in for a concept. Your interpretation of the blood must correspond to it being referred to interchangeably with 'the cup' so I'm not sure how you get away from the language being figurative in some sense. I'm not trying to refute the Lutheran position per se, just pointing out the rhetoric and shifting of the burden of proof from an outsiders perspective. Perhaps Dr Cooper has addressed these concerns elsewhere.

**An Argument and Defense for Tritheism Using Only the Bible** **Introduction** Tritheism is the belief in three distinct and separate deities who are united in purpose but are individually autonomous. In the context of Christianity, it posits that the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit are three separate gods rather than three persons of one Godhead as in traditional Trinitarian doctrine. This perspective seeks to interpret biblical passages that highlight the individuality and distinct roles of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, suggesting that they are separate divine beings. Below is an argument and defense for Tritheism based solely on biblical texts. --- **1. Scriptural Evidence of Distinct Divine Beings** **a. Individual Identities and Titles** - **The Father as God** - *"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."* (Philippians 1:2) - The Father is frequently referred to explicitly as God, indicating a distinct identity. - **The Son as God** - *"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."* (John 1:1) - *"Thomas answered him, 'My Lord and my God!'"* (John 20:28) - Jesus is called God, suggesting a separate divine identity alongside the Father. - **The Holy Spirit as God** - *"But Peter said, 'Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit... You have not lied to man but to God.'"* (Acts 5:3-4) - Equating lying to the Holy Spirit with lying to God implies the Holy Spirit is also God. **b. Distinct Wills and Actions** - **Jesus' Will Differing from the Father's** - *"And going a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, saying, 'My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.'"* (Matthew 26:39) - Indicates that Jesus and the Father have distinct wills. - **Intercession of the Holy Spirit** - *"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness... but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."* (Romans 8:26) - The Holy Spirit intercedes between humans and God, suggesting a distinct role. **c. Separate Manifestations** - **The Baptism of Jesus** - *"And when Jesus was baptized... he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.'"* (Matthew 3:16-17) - All three appear separately: Jesus in the water, the Spirit descending, and the Father's voice from heaven. - **Stephen's Vision** - *"But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God."* (Acts 7:55) - Stephen sees Jesus standing beside God, indicating two distinct beings. --- **2. Theological Implications of Distinct Beings** **a. Personal Relationships Among the Divine** - **Jesus Speaks of the Father as Another** - *"In my Father's house are many rooms... I go to prepare a place for you."* (John 14:2) - Jesus refers to the Father in a way that implies a separate being. - **The Sending of the Holy Spirit** - *"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name..."* (John 14:26) - The Father sends the Holy Spirit in Jesus' name, indicating three distinct entities involved in this action. **b. Hierarchical Language Suggesting Separateness** - **Jesus Acknowledges the Father as Greater** - *"You heard me say to you, 'I am going away, and I will come to you.'... for the Father is greater than I."* (John 14:28) - Suggests a distinction in status or role between Jesus and the Father. - **Jesus Receives Authority from the Father** - *"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."* (Matthew 28:18) - The fact that authority is given implies a giver (the Father) and a receiver (the Son), indicating separateness. --- **3. The Unity of Purpose Among Distinct Gods** **a. Unified in Testimony and Action** - **Three That Bear Witness** - *"For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree."* (1 John 5:7-8) - While some manuscripts have variations, the emphasis is on three entities agreeing, suggesting unity among distinct beings. - **Jesus Prays for Unity** - *"That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you..."* (John 17:21) - The unity between Jesus and the Father is likened to the desired unity among believers-not a literal singularity but a unity of purpose. **b. Cooperative Roles in Salvation** - **The Father's Love and Sending of the Son** - *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son..."* (John 3:16) - The Father's action of sending and the Son's action of coming imply distinct but cooperative roles. - **The Spirit's Role in Believers** - *"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"* (1 Corinthians 3:16) - The indwelling of the Holy Spirit represents a separate function in the believer's life. --- **4. Addressing Monotheism in Scripture** **a. Understanding "One God" Passages** - **Shema Israel** - *"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."* (Deuteronomy 6:4) - The Hebrew word for "one" (echad) can denote a unified one made up of multiple parts, similar to "one cluster of grapes" (Numbers 13:23). - **Unity Rather Than Singularity** - *"There is one body and one Spirit... one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all..."* (Ephesians 4:4-6) - Emphasizes unity among multiple entities rather than insisting on singularity. **b. Plural Language Used for God** - **Creation Account** - *"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.'"* (Genesis 1:26) - The use of plural pronouns suggests a multiplicity within the Godhead. - **The Tower of Babel** - *"Come, let us go down and there confuse their language..."* (Genesis 11:7) - Again, God refers to Himself in the plural. --- **5. Conclusion** The Bible contains numerous passages that depict the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as distinct entities with individual wills, actions, and personalities. Instances where they interact with one another, possess different roles, and are described separately support the Tritheistic view of three separate gods unified in purpose and essence. While traditional interpretations emphasize the mystery of the Trinity as one God in three persons, a straightforward reading of these scriptures can lead to the conclusion that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct divine beings. This perspective maintains the divine unity through shared essence and harmonious action, aligning with biblical depictions of their relationships and functions. --- **Final Thoughts** By focusing solely on the biblical text, the argument for Tritheism highlights the distinctness of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as separate gods who work in perfect unity. This interpretation seeks to resolve the complexities associated with the traditional doctrine of the Trinity by adhering closely to the scriptural evidence of their individuality and cooperative interactions. It invites readers to consider an alternative understanding of the divine nature as presented in the Bible.

1. only about like 1-2% of america (north and south) has had archeological work done, it talks about how many of the cities fell into the ocean, and what are you looking for, some old scroll with the words nephi was here, you do know that humid tropical forests and european destruction don't do well in preservation 2. when the BoM was written 205 anachronisms were spotted, today that number went to 38 due to more archeological evidence that has come to light, and i would wager that the number will be near zero by 2050 3. are the people who preserved the bible trustworthy, we have 12 people who claim they saw the plates and never denied even after a couple left the church, who are the people that copied down the bible and preserved it and are they trustworthy, also the joseph smith wasnt perfect, none of the prophets are, there are 2 maybe 3 people in all of the scriptures who are perfect, and that number includes Jesus 4. the BoM states multiple times that it isnt written for the people of that day, if dark skin is so bad, then why do the nephites and lamanites flip flop between who is the more righteous people, why is the last guy to prophesy about Christ's birth a lamanite, and if the BoM was reflective of 19th century writings, then why does the writing style not match the writing style of joseph smith, or oliver cowdery, or matin harris, or sidney rigdon, or any author of the 19th century, and why does every author that is stated to have authored a portion of the BoM all have their own individual writing style, and even if it was similar to 19th century writing, that would make sense as it was translated for this day and age 5. the lehites are not the decedents of all native americans, it was an idea, but never doctrine, never seen as fact, just the most accepted theory as modern understanding grew, also nowhere in the BoM does it say that jews went to america, I hear this all the time, when does that happen, where does it jews go to america, i am all ears

I just want to make two little comments on that subject of religious images.Did you notice that in those original manuscripts that compose the old and the new testament, not one picture was drawn on them, not one and by defending so so harshly the use of images and sculptures in their doctrines, the catholic and the orthodox betray themselves and confirm that those images takes a divine place in their heart and this is absolutly not Biblical. Also, what you are talking about like Noah for example used by Jesus,as a "figure",the Bible calls that a "shadow" or a " pale representation",it s like if God knew that the excuse of using images will become legitimized by some corrupted religions and He prevent by using those words instead...I also find those religions hypocrites, because they deny teaching veneration of religious images, but at the same time they expose them in their religious temples, they know very well that by exposing them, some weak peoples will venerate them, and when they see this, they do like those 3 monkeys they don t see nothing, they don t hear nothing and they don t say nothing. This is a big lack of love towards the weak, coming from religion that boast being the real church of Christ,by not preventing these things to happen because these images and statues boost the beauty of their temple, especially at the Vatican with those priceless masterpieces made by well renoun artists. Its like they fell in the snare that they made themselves.Paul gives the example of the meats sacrificed to idols in 1Cor.10:23 to 33.I noticed that in some temples there even have kneeling furnitures in front of those religious images with candles to light up.Please read 1Cor.2:9 to 12.

Throwing out Sola Scriptural would be throwing out tradition. I love history and studying all that we have inherited from the past as Christians, but no, you can't just put tradition up against Scripture without carefully critiquing WHAT exactly you are talking about. All traditions should be weighed and revisited. Scripture is the guiding central source of that weighing. The Confessions are not the Word of God but are based carefully on it during a time of challenge & need. They have a special place and should not be easily messed with.

I went to an Assemblies of God church for most of my teenage years. I really think they have a difficult time not pressuring people to have certain experiences during worship. I had good worship experiences, but also bad. Overall, a lot of the time it was very exhausting or overwhelming (music very loud, lights, fog machine, lots of people around you very emotional). I don't want to be too quick to criticize because there are genuine believers in those churches, and I definitely believe that miracles can still occur. However, I can definitely relate to the anxiety that Pentecostal churches create.

I just don’t understand why people are so outraged about one channels view of a person… the only thing we need to be focused in is who is on the side of the bible. The smartest person in the can be wrong sometimes - do their ideas line up biblically . If he has a difference of opinion from Heiser so be it. Does either line un with the word of God

I’ve become hooked on this channel lately, binge watching these older videos. I’m commenting on the first five minutes of it, but something I’ve realized about Sola Scriptura versus tradition is that Scripture is the ultimate form of tradition. The wisest of men over thousands of years have put together the Word of God. It surpasses the entire Catholic community and Eastern Orthodox community combined, because it is Church tradition since time immemorial.

The Crisis that you speak of began in the 16th century when greedy princes and other despots found the ideas of a defrocked Augustinian monk, who wanted to make a name for himself, and wasn't particularly concerned about the consequences or repercussions, useful. While Martin may not have wanted personally to found a heretical movement that tens of thousands would use to make an easy living from, the princes that used him to break ties from Rome certainly did. All we are seeing today are those seeds bearing fruit: self-centered secularism, imperious state-centered socialism, abortion on demand, promiscuous lust and contraception, sexual confusion, the abandonment of the family, false shepherds in bed with political forces promulgating and perpetuating these vices to their personal profit and aggrandizement.

Right, because medieval Catholic priests, princes, and commoners were the epitome of morality…. I think all the kids who were calling their priests “father” in a more literal sense back then would beg to differ… The papacy was never sold or purchased either… Popes never had illegitimate sons or anything of the sort… Princes never manipulated the papacy or the church broadly to make a quick buck through selling indulgences… I think it’s rather naive to only blame Protestantism for these evil issues. They’re issues that stem from our evil hearts. Even if the reformation had never happened, these problems might still have come about. Medieval Catholic Europe had seriously depraved people too. Read Erasmus if you don’t believe me! Back when the church was all under the same roof so to speak, there were still serious moral issues. Now, that’s not to say that some of the ideas of the Protestant reformation have no relation to the issues at hand, but it is not a Protestant only issue.

(you'd also know that the separation-of-Church and state STARTED with Catholic Church) You'd also know that ONLY secular (and NEVER ecclesiastical) authority had the power to execute anyone. All mankind fell in Adam's fall, One common sin infects them all; From sire to son the bane descends, And over all the curse impends. 2. Through all man's powers corruption creeps And him in dreadful bondage keeps; In guilt he draws his infant breath And reaps its fruits of woe and death. 3. From hearts depraved, to evil prone, Flow thoughts and deeds of sin alone; God's image lost, the darkened soul Nor seeks nor finds its heavenly goal. 4. But Christ, the second Adam, came To bear our sin and woe and shame, To be our Life, our Light, our Way, Our only Hope, our only Stay. 5. As by one man all mankind fell And, born in sin, was doomed to hell, So by one Man, who took our place, We all received the gift of grace. 6. We thank Thee, Christ; new life is ours, New light, new hope, new strength, new powers: May grace our every way attend Until we reach our journey's end!
