I would 100% pick these over the Airpod max way more comfortable they fold and they come with a actual case that is perfect for traveling and it comes with the adapter for the plane these are so comfortable around my ear I could sleep with them on if you can’t decide what ones to get over the AirPods get the sonys !!!

I have looked on Sony’s website and the XM4s are now £230 in the Uk, instead of £350 which they apparently were at launch (only think that because of KZbin videos).

I am on my second set of mx4. the first was broken in an accident, but found I could not do without them. 17 hr plane trip, they are a must have.

Oh I imagine the 4 sound better. Considering they got a 40 mm driver and the 5 only got a 30. People can do what they want to a small speaker to improve it, but it always gets out performed by the bigger speaker, especially of the same speaker.

Just bought a pair of refurbished ones from Target for 227! Hopefully they are as good as new and help me get through my long travels this summer!

Got the XM5 from best buy and exchanged them the next day for XM4. The XM5 had deeper bass and more thump with kick drums BUT if they're too uncomfortable with long listening sessions, what's the point of better bass. Proper fit is king and xm4 with the wider headband and thicker less springy ear pads, give me up to 5 hours at a time before I notice their fatigue point as far as fitting comfortably. The XM5 also made my ears sweat and my inner ears touched the foam inside the ear cups with my averaged size ears. Don't like the fact they're both so app dependent. If you can't get into the app, you can't change EQ settings or enable multipoint if you're a new user and even know how to enable it to begin with since it's not intuitive. Very pleased with the XM4 but I feel they should be $300 by now, not $350 still.

What dems size did you use

Feel like i need all the noise cancelling i can get with my neighbors. Although sometimes it can backfire by blocking all the low frequency noise, making their tv and conversations more audible.

Phone conversations are much improved with the 5. Got rid of my 4’s because of phone microphones…

the folding up feature I use more than I realized. Had XM3, then upgraded to XM4 and sold the XM3. the only thing I still don't like with Sony is their issue pinpointing which of the 2 devices to use when paired with my samsung s22 phone and macbook pro. Macbook pro closing the lid doesn't trigger the bluetooth disconnection. I have to often go into the app to manually disconnect. Or sometimes if both devices are on and I'm switching audio from one to the other. Whenever I get a phone call though without fail it will switch to the phone regardless (if it's paired that is). I find that super annoying and wish Sony could do a better job with this basic feature being multiple generations in. XM3 had the same problem. Come on Sony. Couldn't figure out how to send them this feedback because their website was so convoluted.

My suggestion to everyone deliberating between these two is just to go to your nearest Heapdhone store and compare both side by side. I was looking people's comparison and kept hearing XM4 sounds better this that that I almost bought an XM4. Then I compared them both directly and was I so disappointed with XM4, what a muddy mess compared to XM5 sound wise (imho). XM5 is a bit of a price jump, but it sounds much much better in my opinion. Nothing beats your own ears, hear them yourself, get the one you prefer.
