So the thumbnail was an a320, the title is PMDG 747, but in reality you're using the PMDG 737?!

Thanks for your comment. In this video, from which the thumbnail came, I was flying the PMDG 737. I'm not sure why you might think it's an A320.

you know, that this is a b737?

Probably just a typo!

you dont even have the ils course set
@AptosWatcher6 ай бұрын
Nope, I shoulda, but I didn't, though I'm not sure how that would've helped me once I got so far off course. In any event, sometimes it's good to fly this jet by the seat of one's pants -- as long as they don't end up on fire. :-)

You are a good instrument pilot but one of the worst manual pilot I've seen lol ^^ You need to learn a few basics in piloting because your manual approach was nothing short of awful.
I spitballed the history of the airline in this video. Shoulda googled before I spoke. This 737 proudly sports the livery of Pacific Southwest Airlines America's first discount air carrier. It started as an intrastate California air carrier in 1949, avoiding a lot of costs associated with federal regulations, not to mention regulatory strictures on its airfares. PSA didn't fly beyond California's borders until after the 1978 deregulation of America's airlines. Southwest Airlines began as a Texas intrastate airline modeled on PSA. PSA was later acquired by US Air, not Southwest, as I mistakenly say in this video. For anyone interested in known more about the storied airline (storied to Californians of a certain age), here's a link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Southwest_Airlines

Very cool! I haven’t flown this aircraft yet. Looks like a blast with the periscope! Blue skies!

Nice FP. I use to live 3 blocks from KMRY north runway. I've used your FP many times to practice. Keep up the good work and you'll get there in no time 💪
@AptosWatcher2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your nice words. I've practiced many landings at KMRY, flying from our local airport, KWVI. Early on I practiced ILS landings at RWY 10R at KMRY. It seems, however that 28L is more often the active runway. (I wasn't paying attention to that when I started.) The RNAV approach to 28L is especially challenging because it brings you in obliquely to the RWY and you have to disengage the AP early to correct for that. I think it's a tricky approach due to the surrounding terrain.

I remember when that made news. Runway demolished even though several parked private planes trapped there.

What a neat video, its very tricky and unforgiving lining up your descent into KTEX becuase of it being on a "hill". Nice work! KLVX is North America’s highest public use airport at an altitude of 9,934 feet. LVX is a fun challenge as well.
@AptosWatcher2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 👍 I'll try KLVX (Leadville); it looks to be a reasonably short flight from Denver. (I don't have an attention span for anything over an hour or 1 1/2 hours, at most.)

You want to have a stabilized approach so you aren't changing the configuration as you are landing. Gear down when you pick up the glide path or just before if you are instrument approaches, or normally gear down when you enter the pattern. It should be as you slow down, when you slow to your gear extension speed. It is published in your POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) for the aircraft.
