I can't say this performance satisfies all my taste, but it is certainly an unorthodox and interesting one! Li is a great violinist that stands out from the crowd with his brilliant techniques, unique interpretation and wow, unmatched passion! I had the opportunity to listen to his Sibelius Violin Concerto in live, and I think that piece is a better match for his style. Wish there is a recording of that.

A brilliant, extremely talented violinist. He could be a most sought after violinist. A pity is that he appears does not bound by conventional habits and customary boundaries. Whether it is right or wrong is debatable. If his parents or earlier year teachers would taught him some those commonly/customarily observed behavior and boundaries. He may very well be one of most sought after violinists.

He is telling a story. once upon a time, there was a loving father and his son living a happy life. But the enemy came and destroyed everything, father tries everything to protect his son and finally gave his own life. The war ends and the story is still being told so the world remembers the beauty exists in cruel war.

Most masters like Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven improvised during cadenza, Li is the only one in our generation that inherited that capability. Others are all stick to the notes.
@-trueincollectors54257 ай бұрын
Everyone, pay attention to his handling of the cadenza! No less than any other composer! And although this kind of improvisational performance is wild and unrestrained, it does not deviate from the main melody, that is, it does not go off-topic, and it is integrated! After listening to it, I feel a sense of release and relief!

its so rare to see Li now. Hope he is doing fine. In my humble opinion, his tchaikovsky is the best. Although i can't agree with all of his improvisations, i haven't heard music flows in the way his does from any other violinists. literally.

Anyone not familiar with Chuanyun Li, check out this video of him playing Dance of Goblins kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqC4h6htbJxkiJosi=sPZoueWqm7fuMqtt Out of this world precision. In his videos, I see an expressive soul that is not limited by technical skills. In his earlier years you see him staying with original composition perfectly, later years he showed more and more improvisation

6:21 is probably the worst I’ve ever heard since a many Joshua Bell performances. It’s like he’s trying to be clever with the liberties, of the poco piu mosso … and on top of butchering everything else. It’s not a unique way of playing, it’s just being cocky.

I dare to think differently - considering that the title of the video should be rather "Chuanyun Li's Variations on Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto" and his constant erratic changes in tempo, I think the lady did an enormously great job in keeping the whole thing together, and in fact, the best female conductor I have seen so far (maybe I have seen to few (because there are so few?)). All the others I have seen look like they are trying to fly, whilst this woman is actually using her hands to lead the orchestra, and she is mostly using them independently (wow). And 4:18 was not the worst moment even.
