@Sonantum you may find there is a bit of a learning curve at first, but persist and it's fairly easy to use in the longer term.

question, why is the first one in G# minor when it appears mostly in D# minor?
@alkanliszt11 күн бұрын
I suspect because when I was writing it out (from a recording of an improvisation) I took the key signature from the opening bars, where it is G# minor for the first two lines.

The only thing why it loses to Liszt is that it was still in the same improvisation while in Mazeppa is that it was in fact much more Beethovinian, meaning it brings the music without limitations that it is unpredictable in nature.

Hey there! I'm that guy who said a few (?) years ago that I'd do an orchestra and piano transcription of this piece. Well, it's been wild times indeed and though I've done half of the first movement, I had to take it aside for my real life work. Despite that, I still love this work; I've totally forgotten about it until just until now. Unfortunately, I seems to have lost both the original file (of my transcription) and a score for this piece (which I believed you've said that it's a little different from the one shown in the video). Any chance you could send me the score again? 😅 I'll continue working on it and hopefully not to long into the future, I'll able to deliver the transcription to you :)

@@KentPham27 great news to hear you're still working on it: I really do look forward to hearing the result. I've meant to orchestrate it myself also but I think I don't have the experience to do it as well as I believe the piece deserves. Yes: the most up-to-date version of the score was properly proofread and corrected some (in places, quite serious) grammatical errors present in the original.

Peter Jacobson, who played Dr. Chris Taub in the series House, resembles Thalberg very much, and would have made a very convincing portrayal at around the same age (25) Thalberg was at the time of the "Duel".

Liszt being whistled down by latchkeys?? The filmmakers cribbed that from the Paris Tannhauser premiere, 24 years later. I've never read of that happening at this event.

It is so beautiful. What are the main chord progressions that you use in this? The harmonies are amazing
@alkanlisztАй бұрын
In general I like chord progressions where one or more part moves by a semitone; also lots of diminished chords, chords with ninths, chords based around the third of the scale, and above all augmented chords are super flexible for modulation.

Who is playing this piece? He/she has no idea of belcanto phasing. The fiorituri sound like a riot gun, so fast and in your face. The ending of every phrase is not played as an ending but equally loud showing no understanding of the musical language. Thalberg’s transcription is more effective and just better than Chopin’s.
