I'm old school, and as far as I know, cam dynamics and valve float was the biggest factor for determining the redline. Has that changed over the years?
@TowerCrisis4 күн бұрын
Hasn't changed at all. Assuming the limitation for redline is the valvetrain, adding a supercharger should realistically decrease redline, or leave it unchanged. That extra boost works to fight against valve springs when closed / closing. Doesn't exactly cause float in the traditional sense, but can cause similar issues during the intake stroke if the boost is high enough.
@festersmith83524 күн бұрын

You can take all the modern diesel engines with strap-ons you want can't beat a old school mechanical injection. I should also mention the government that makes all the rules doesn't on put that BS on government vehicles that should tell you something.
@cristianandrei546211 күн бұрын
They're more powerful than previous generations, ecu's, injection, fuel delivery to injectors all evolved gradually over the years. All this pollution nonsense is proved to make them less reliable and as you can imagine, it limits the potential power too, as a higher power engine's components are subjected to more torque, combined with the egr valve depositing sleuth everywhere and dpf subjecting it to a lot of heat doring regeneration, it's a recipe for disaster. A simple solution comes from the fact that everyone involved into this, government, consumers, car manufacturers miss understand the diesel engine. It's not supposed to be used in urban areas. It's great for use in applications where you need to move weight at constant speeds. The particles which are the considered like the devil are not traveling long distances through the atmosphere, the efect is localized and they stand suspended in air for a short period of time after which they fall to the ground. Plain and simple, diesels are supposed to be used on the highway for long trips and hauling cargo, for off road and in rural, not in the city.
