You’re a wonderful artist. What made you decide to sacrifice what looked like a promising grain pattern to the sandblaster? Your result is lovely, but it seems like it would have made for a striking smooth finish.

I have to admit I thought you screwed it up with the and blaster but after you did the dark finish I was very impressed. You should invest in a 2 x 72 belt grinder. I made one about 7 years ago because I watched to much forged in fire. I have used it for a lot of knives but to be honest I do not think one day goes by that i am in the shop it does not get used. So much better than using a disk sander. The small wheels are so much better than a drum sander. The belt being 6 feet long it stays cool and does not load up like a disk or drum sander. I built mine from a old treadmill and it will hog away metal or wood. This looks like a fun hobby. I have turned a shit ton of small weed pipes for people but this looks fun and like a 2x 72 grinder would make light work

Thank you for the compound tip. I just received the dirtiest batch of pipes I've ever seen. I didn't have sanding choices so I used Murphy's oil soap and extra fine steel wool on the mouth pieces. The wool did an amazing job on all the gunked on crud. I'm excited to see what the compound and my Dremel pad will do to finish them up.

Beautiful pipe you made.. gorgeous piece of art! Can I ask you, what did you use as a "treatment" inside the bowl? I wonder what it is if it doesn't affect tabacco taste or arome when it burns. Thank you.

Hey Jeff, fantastic video and what a beautiful work of craftsmanship. Was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing a bit of info about your sanding setup that you show with the AC drive (i.e. type of motor, HP, etc.)? Thanks in advance! (p.s. Sorry if you mentioned already. There are a lot of wonderful comments to go through on this video!)

Is this just for vulcanized or is it safe for Acrylic too?

Thanks, works well. Took about 10 minutes per pipe and a little longer for heavily oxidized pipes. The White Diamond compound was very good to give a luster to the stems.
