When you say wash rag, do you mean terry cloth towel? (with little loops of fibers?)

I can say this is a decent review of this bag. I got one for each of my boys during their scouting years (I had one myself too). First, I'll say the socks, clean and wool if possible and a cover (head gear) is a biggie. People tend to forget how sleeping "bags" work. Even in sub freezing temps, Pushing clothes, polar Tec, etc to the foot of the bag is great. Even putting your jacket under you (torso) is a big plus. If you can, put a Mylar emergency blanket under ground pad, you will be amazed. Though the boys are eagle scouts and out of scouting, I still have all but 1 bag in my "bug out" gear. Love these bags, 4 seasons and one of the best govt issue items IMO on the market. Puddle pirate sends! 73's

A basic knowledge of flintknapping is very helpful also in order to sharpen your flint when needed or to sharpen or downsize a piece of [large] flint you find. Jasper, agate, quartz and other rocks with conchoidal fracture also work in place of flint. Obsidian also works, albeit not quite as well I hear.

This is old video but your sheath criticism is total bs, and mainly you pushing your product. Mora's plastic sheaths are the best in industry. Light weight, effective, fit to the size of the knife and they're included in the low price of the knife.

Your mora is dull....shouldn't take that much effort to slice. My mora companion status razor sharp. When processessing deer for jerk it glides through muscle and meat much easier then you are presenting.

I hated the sheath but Love the knife, so a Quick tip regarding this matter.. Mora 731 sheath fits the Pathfinder.. Don't know how easy it is to get these in the US but here in Finland it is just Basic cheap knife/tool.. Mean while I also ordered a custom leather sheath from a guy in Portugal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZLUaKZnqJV0laMsi=y9E4-EVUaw-QmrXm

If you want a product that's softer and easier to handle (tear apart or fluff) with your fingers use beeswax. I use the wax rings for sealing toilet bowls. If your first batch is sticky add a little bit, just a little, parafin to the mixture.

You don't need a big fire. Build a twig fire in the stove (standoff). The stove also works with heat tabs and alcohol stoves. The canteen, cup, and stove are perfect. They stow away compact and a US Military canteen pouch fits fine. I prefer the Helikon-Tex E&E pouch. The canteen fits better and there is still room for extras. As far as purifying the water, the neck for the canteen fits the MSR water purifiers. I carry both the canteen and a Nalgene plastic bottle. Boiling water is nice if you only need a quart, but if you need more a purifier is faster and better. Chemicals and filtering water through a rag works, but using a purifier has no taste.

The Mora robust like many Mora knifes are made for carpenters, so they shouldn't be too hard to get out of the sheath. Thats why a lot of people complain about it, thinking it's made for bushcraft.

Looks like an Armadillo, to me. Also, no one should ever touch them in the wild, they can carry leprosy. While it is 'treatable' nowadays, still not something you want to get if you can help it.

There are more than a few guys in the military who carry the Mora Pathfinder. They aren't "bushcrafters". They want a good field knife which can also be used for a killing knife. Maybe this clears up a couple of things. It's easy to put a heavy coating of epoxy on retention straps to prevent them from being cut. Have a lovely 2024.

I have experimented a lot with these. One method I came up with is using empty toilet paper rolls. Stand them on end. Seal the exterior bottom to whatever you are use to protect your work surface. I use hot melt glue. Compact with sawdust, lint etc. Whatever is your choice of absorbent fuel. Then pour in melted wax (your individual mixed recipe). Let cool and you now have a length of fire starter that you can cut to any desired length providing an infinite range of burntime. I love 'em. They work great.
