Great document! ❤ Thank you for sharing! I was there I could see the soundcheck and I saw Chris Potter playing drums amazingly! I didn't know Ricardo's Music until that day, and I fell in ❤ with that marevellous MUSIC!

What are we thinking about Harlands comping, ground breaking maybe? Very active, beautiful language and phrasing, lots of hi hat pedal. I swear no one does anything close to this

These are quality sidemen, guitar player. Not that you don't deserve them, but they definitely need no introduction... although as a professional musician, saying their name at the end of your own tune, as you did, must be an incredible thrill. All the best.
@RicardoGrilli6 ай бұрын
These are quality sidemen, and also friends, Thanos the Titan. I do deserve them. As the leader of the ensemble introducing the musicians is not only my honor but my obligation, it'd be disrespectful not to do so, also someone entirely new to jazz might've been in the club that night. The thrill was in the playing together, just as it was on my trio gig last night with none of those musicians (but with great ones nonetheless). Jazz is collective art form, at its best when egos are at their lowest. I posted the video because the performance speaks for itself and both the band and crowd felt it.Thanks for listening!
@cab888886 ай бұрын
@@RicardoGrilli Thanos, haha... Just a 3d scullpt I made at some point. Hi Ricardo, thanks for your message. I agree with everything you wrote. By my post I just meant that even though you are a top level musician, they appear to me more famous than you are (I wish you the best though! With this kind of bands, it is a good place to be!). Musically, anyone of you should be lucky to be well surrounded. And of course the thrill of playing together at this level must be insane (saying the names at the end, is just something funny from another point of view, which is outside of your reality, anyone would dream of saying these words at the end of their gig... ). It is nice to learn that your egos were left aside, I expected no less from you guys. I have met Potter a couple times and he seems like a lovely person. I have witnessed many times that simplicity is simply what comes with excellence. Each one more humbled to share the stage with people they deeply respect. Peace!

Nice man. I actually hold my pick at and angle that allows me to bow the strings where the pick never leaves the string and creates the warm tone I get. My old guitar teacher Bill Connors of Return to Forever fame showed me this way to hold the pick. The pick is very important. I have driven back to me home to get my certain pick that I forgot because it gives me a certain sound no other pick will.

Dude. I’m still smitten with that guitar… the resonance acoustically! Could work as a Django-style thing, which is not always the case for archtops… damn! Also yeah that thumb angle is weird 😂 My left thumb does that but not my right, unfortunately haha

Dude! Thanks so much, it def can do the django thing, I’ve done it a couple of times, I’m no manouche player but can wing it a bit. It’s a great instrument. HA! Yeah I had no idea til someone told me I held the pick weird!
