There's recently been a lot of marvel knockoffs lately. The Challengers look like the fantastic 4 now, there's a fake black panther, Hulk, Spiderman, you name it. It was always the other way around. Dc is loosing steam? To be honest I'm only interested in absolute supes and bat comics right now.

I might have to give it a 10/10. As a longtime new gods reader and fan, that definitely felt and looked like a proper new gods book. It great they are getting the attention they deserve. Darkseid is just one of many characters from that corner of the universe

I found myself annoyed we weren’t seeing present day the whole issue, but then some of the reveals in this issue really made it worth spending the whole issue in the past. Really curious to see what happened with the ship and the rest of the Kryptonians. I’m guessing that Kal’s parents are the Kent’s here and they just changed their names to fit in.

i found the field trip scene actually pretty scary. the tour guide says who wants to work in the science guild. then, most of the kids raise their hands. you ask yourself how is that scary, and i would say it's because those kids are oblivious to the fact that their planet is dying. also, that the ruling elite are just abandoning them to die.

Considering how Iron Lad is destined to become Kang The Conqueror and thus create a causality loop, ensuring he becomes himself, does Howard Stark become the "mainline" Iron Man on The Ultimates? We all know that has to be the twist, since Iron Lad/Kang comes from a time when Howard finishes The Immortus Engine, and is fused into Kang's suit.

I want to write something deeper than it needs to be, but it’s simply put… Absolute Superman is remarkably good. Aaron is only using small staple items on a vast new menu. Side note: Am I overthinking the character on the last page that wears black glasses and appears to be a surgical instrument cleaning tech???

Orion has always struggled a bit to battle his dark nature that he inherited from his biological dad, Darkseid as a baby, Darkseid gave Orion to the High Father of New Genesis in order to seal an uneasy peace treaty, and in exchange, High Father handed his son over to Darkseid, and that son would later become Mr. Miracle and marry Big Barda

Mr. Miracle and Orion did not have easy lives due to being abandoned by their biological fathers, but they both made something of themselves by allying with the Justice League against the tyranny of Apokolips

I really liked the chapter, I liked the twist that the upper classes always knew about the destruction and I also liked the reference to Zod in the emblem of the guards guild. And the Ma Kent thing is a good cliffhanger.

I just realized that the worst punishment for Superman that Darkseid could think of was to take away his humanity; as far as we can see so far, he's not Clark Kent, simply Kal-El, an alien on an unknown world. I now realize how tragic that is for Superman, taking away the one thing he holds sacred.
