I'm sorry but for a service item the positioning of these filters is moronic at best. Well done Citroen - now spend some money on ergonomics lessons for your designers! Anyway finally got the job done but it's a LOT easier (for RHD cars) if you first remove the white plastic air channel that's in your way. There's a clip top front of the part. Press that in and wiggle the channel off its seating (takes a bit of brute force but you won't ruin the part). Once that's off you'll have a bit more clearance to tackle the pollen filters. Note that the lower dash tray bolt is a Torx 20 and the lower clip on the right (holding the dash to the carpet) is threaded but mine was knackered so I just pulled it up with a regular trim tool - went back on ok.

Oh mate thats amazing! Thanks so much. Just back from the garage, was prepared to order a steering column from eBay and get it fitted. Decided to do a bit of googling, and found the instructions (from 2009 so they were missing the diaghrams and images...). Thought to myself that surely someone has done a KZbin video about that and there it is! Looking forward to trying the fix later this week! Will post back how it went.

Thanks for this tip Paul. i`ve just bought an MGF 75th Anniversary and the steering wheel is doing exactly this. The previous owner had been told by a garage that the problem was due to crash damage , but I couldn`t find any evidence at all of crash damage and so doubted the diagnosis. Now I know exactly what is causing the problem and how to repair it. Many thanks - Ian

I don't quite get why the tippex there ? It should mark the initial position of the sensor relative to its support or am I missing something ?
@paulosfandango_
@paulosfandango_ 4 жыл бұрын
Correct. It's just in case you over loosen it and it moves too far. Realistically you probably won't need it but there's no harm in having a reference point is there

@@paulosfandango_ The "reference" point should be relative to the support of the sensor over which it rotates - the column - not the screw. Tippexing the screw is akin to taking a dump next to the bowl.

@paulosfandango_
@paulosfandango_ 5 жыл бұрын
You are able to remove the fuse under the bonnet to cancel the power steering out but it isn't a very comfortable drive. It is a good way of testing to see if your EPAS unit is to blame though; as once removed the steering won't fall to the left or right anymore. It's located on the passenger side, under the bonnet, under a white fuse cover.

I have this car, I tried to do this the other day. I have to say that the designers at Citroen must have been high on crack when they designed this. It's extremely difficult to change. On my last car, a Vauxhall Vectra, all I had to do was open the bonnet, pull away a rubber seal, open a plastic flap and unclip the pollen filter.

There are 2 filters therein, how do you place the second one inside? Since they are next to each other, is there a passengers or opposite to drivers side that you can access the second one? Or is it the only side were the filters are located? I managed to remove both and second one with pliers, however placing the second new one in, seems to be not technologicaly meant to be via this opening.
