This was my favorite song to sing in Kindergarten, whether it was Halloween time or not. Then, I had to change schools the next year, and everything was different. Except, we sang this song around Halloween at the new school, too!

Listening to these songs it's impossible not to romanticize these bygone eras like the age of discovery. Despite it being a tough life with a lot of hardship, there were also adventures and moments of feeling like you just earned a big prize you found. And the men toughened up from such a hard life learned to enjoy it and all the fun times. And over a lifetime, they collected enough memories to be a source of entertainment with their yarns spun in their golden years. It's weird, I know life wasn't nearly as fun in those times as it seems, but there were fun adventures so I kind of understand the romanticism of it. I don't know, I hope what I said makes sense (English isn't my native language).
