What kind of steel is the cutting tool made of?
@TheMoulhoud Жыл бұрын
All our tools are made in-house. We use a special alloy designed, through decades of testing, for the longevity of its sharpness.

Beautiful to see such skill and to know that some manufacturers still hold dear to the mantra of quality matters.

Like most woodworkers I’ve used lots of rasps. They did a job but I never enjoyed it. The finish would be variable, the rasp would catch and jump and tear and I’d end up binning the rasp or just leaving it in a drawer. The best I ever found was the Shinto saw rasp which is very good but has its limitations by being flat and quite thick. Then I bought a Liogier cabinet rasp (No11, 200mm). What a game changer. Never going back.

Seeing people making that kind of tool, that way, in 21th century.... Makes me really happy. Thanks a lot!
@dominickminervini83843 жыл бұрын
Simply incredible tools. The things that you can do with them are amazing. I am not a artisan like craftsman by any measure, but I learned that the limitations of a machine tool is no longer a limit - just get fairly close to a cut line without going over, a lioger rasp will get you there the rest of the way. And the finish after the cutting with the rasp is just amazing. From me and all those other grateful woodworkers out there- Thank you Noel (And Auriou) for keeping a beautiful craft alive.

Hard to explain to someone who never used or own one of these tools why they are worth the money, but speak to anyone who bought at least one of these rasps and they will all tell you how amazing they are and all the things they can do better once they own one.

I have two Liogier rasps: a 9" grain 10 cabinet rasp and a 9" grain 13 modeller rasp. I use them for wooden spoon/utensil making and they are superb. I have several other brands of machine made rasps and one hand stitched that have never seen the light of day since I started using the Liogier rasps several years ago.

These Rasps are great but I am being forced to go with Ariou since their distribution in the US is much better giving me more choice to grow with their line of rasps. I'd prefer your product in the sapphire but I can only find the starter set online which limits me and then if I want to add to them I'd have to pay the VAT if I order direct from you.
@AndreaArzensek5 жыл бұрын
I have a set of 5 and they are absolutely incredible. My father who was a professional woodworker for 35 years couldn't believe the speed they cut with and the finish they leave. These are fine tools you made, and I'm so proud to own and use them.

They are brilliant tools I have one and it is truly a joy to work with. They are so cheap considering what goes into making them. I am currently making my own knife, but I wouldn't even attempt making a rasp I bet hand stitching them is not easy.
