This shows some akward winding. Here in Australia we wind with whatever hand feels most comfortable. We don't adhere to some rigid nonsense. Well, the normal people anyway. Or the butt of the rod combined with the rod bucket makes the reel too far away. You can buy oversized slip on butt caps for rods.

Hi there and Thanks! i would say yes, the char is usually going in the bottom layers of waters, so for them if you are thinking more passive fishing method, definetly important to keep it close to bottom. half meter up would say, they are really curious fishes tho, comes to look flashing lures ( red ) =D

Great video and great catches! I really enjoyed it. I'm from Sweden originally, but I currently live in the US where I ice fish in the North East. I've been looking for different configurations for a sled with a sonar setup, and your video has given me a new idea. I had originally planned on having the sonar mounted at the end of the sled with a seat/box right behind it. I see that you have your setup mounted along the side. You are also using a slightly smaller sled than I had planned on getting, which I think is great. I don't want to haul any unnecessary weight around. If you don't mind me asking, how have you attached your sonar unit to the sled...and is your Rapala box attached to the sled, or just freestanding? Thanks again for a great video! I can't wait to get out there. -Fredrik
@FishingwithJaska7 ай бұрын
thanks a lot for watching and your nice comment! ice fishing is a big thing there aswell i think. this setup what i have, i made it for quick trips so its not too much weight with me so its easy to go.the sonar is mounted directly to rapala box and the battery is inside aswell, making it possible to move my sonar and seat quickly where i want with out the sledge. the rapala box is not mounted to the sledge. when i have time and will, i will probably drill small holes to the edges of sledge and put some rubberish string ( bungee cord ) so its easier to keep things not falling out :)

@FishingwithJaska10 ай бұрын
You are quite correct, originally norway does not have any pacific salmon, but it was planted in the arctic region by russians, somewhere around kola peninsula i think, and has been spreading like a wildfire since then. So now its spreading a lot, some ppl think its bad thing, some ppl think its good thing. im slowly tilting to direction its a good thing. Its eatable meat, good nice lean perfect for cold smoking. and its giving nutritions to the river and for next years fish babys when the rotting carcases are all over the place. And it seems it does not affect on atlantic salmon spawning, i saw this my self now on 2 different rivers. =D
