It’s not just me telling the same story there is quite a number of people saying the same thing, i have used bonito squid trevally mullet etc all with the same results, we have caught fish but they are not here in numbers like they should be, drones and boats generally do quite well anywhere from 3-400 meters out, I remember up in northland no problem getting fish 🐠, Baylis Beach was up there not so long ago with one of my boys and we caught plenty of fish on the same set up i use at the moment, there are not a lot of fish here, I have fish from browns beach to Pouawa 🐠🐠🐠

We have spoken of this a few times and it is coming into being but we will be using the yaks and hopefully there is a sandy bit of beach 🏖️ as it would make a good overnight trip, we will more than likely launch 🚀 from Kaiti beach 🏖️ 😝😝😝

There is just no fish within casting distance but we have the yaks to paddle out further now and we have got a wet suit for Rangi just need to go and get mine 😝😝😝

@ try taking two rods out next time and keep moving them down the beach after every cast. I did this at makorori and got three snapper and found a new pozzy lol.. also I’d say that bite stripped your bait, I’d have reeled it back in after a couple of min and checked the bait. Wrapping the bait in a bit of cotton/bait elastic helps with this. Keep hunting mate, lots of fish out there, keep moving down the beach. You’re heading out at the right time! Just if the high tide is 1-3 hours away at those early morning times at a beach like Pouawa you should get something pretty big!! I found fishing at the right time and on the right tide better than fishing to what the moon is doing. Cheers

Heaps of fish around our local beach’s, pilchard and anchovie will up your chances dramatically. Fish the change of light for an increased chance of catching fish too.

I have fished pretty much all the beaches here and all have the same results, I have heard the same results from other people, however boat or drone/kontiki fishing do get good results, we have the fishing kayaks now so when the weather clears up we may have a good chance of finding something 🐠🐠🐠
