God wants us to treat the hated, the down-trodden, the sick, the incarcerated, the dying, the dead, and the emotionally troubled, with the love, dignity, and respect they're due as human beings. He makes sure life's happenings give us every opportunity to demonstrate love of neighbor. Where goes the least of us, goes God.
