Geeze, Tim!! I turn off the 'puter for a couple hours to play bikes and you jus hafta post!! 😉 You gents have some very nice wooded terrain to enjoy! Awesome stuff. Let's work on coiling and releasing. When you are at the last second of approach, you should be in a coiled position and release that spring as you lift the front wheel to go up. That gives you the kinetic energy to rise up far enough that all you need is a small hop/lunge to finish it off. Jou can do eeet!!
@ThisIsBikeTrials14 күн бұрын

@@Sunspot-19 Yeah totally makes sense. I need to do the same. Gets harder to do as we get older 😁 I find also personally that I struggle to maintain balance when I drop down to preload, so by the time I start launching up, I'm going sideways. Not sure what the magic is there other than keep practicing?
@Sunspot-1928 күн бұрын
@@ThisIsBikeTrials Work this aspect when you are riding any bike. I tend to spend much time working on balance. App positions and transferring positions as well. Carry from one position to another, while maintaining balance throughout the process. You'll gain more than you think. Perhaps you and the gang should workshop on balance and help one another to maintain and improve. As for the age thing, I'm 62 as of the beginning of this month. Had two issues crop up over the last 60 days. Scoliosis flareup as well as kidney disease flareup. Both are deep in the core pain that is difficult to control. Finally, I am feeling better. I bought a 76mm rise PtoTaper bar for my Punkass. That made Sunspot feel amazing!

@@Sunspot-19 Definitely good stuff to work on. Glad to hear you're feeling better! I'm only 54, but don't exercise much other than trials. I think I need to quit making excuses and do other stuff to stay limber and strong 😁
@AdventuresWithUnkadee27 күн бұрын
@@ThisIsBikeTrialsAt 66 learning trials, I can affirm that you need to have a solid core of base fitness, flexibility, balance, and strength. This is more important than the trials riding itself because injuries will cost you months of riding and instead of practicing moves, you'll be doing rehab. Ask me how I know...

I haven't even tried hopping onto anything that skinny. Good effort giving it a go! I find hopping on anything narrow a big challenge, even treble the width of that one you're attempting. I sometimes do quite large lateral corrective hops so fear landing half on/half off the obstacle. This can make getting onto the back wheel on narrow obstacles a challenge too. I've built/am building a small array of various-width narrow obstacles to practice this stuff on to gain confidence and work toward skinnier skinnies 🙂
@ThisIsBikeTrialsАй бұрын
@@jwmartnet Nice! Sounds like a good plan! Working towards smaller targets sounds like a great idea.

Hopping to a skinny is really hard for some reason. Tried that type of line many times with parking blocks, and I'm maybe 1:200 on a good day.
@ThisIsBikeTrialsАй бұрын
@@sapinva Yep. I was surprised how hard it was to either stay on the rear wheel or set the front wheel down on the skinny and not go off the side. I definitely need to practice skinnies and basic balance more!
@Sunspot-19Ай бұрын
Tim's bike was a unipelegic? Is there a roofer in the area that you could abscond with a small chunk of tar? I don't miss the rim scrubber days when we would scrub a little tar on the rim's brake track for more brake holding power. Over the last 45 days, my trials bike has been on holiday cause my kidney disease is in a flareup, causing excruciating pain that is exacerbated by the movements in trialsin. I have been taking some mild spins with my punkass singlespeed. Lowering the tire pressure some helps keep the sharp bumps manageable. I got the roll of 55 mile an hour tape and gonna tape your feet to the pedals, Tim, just trackstand a minute and you'll be good to go!!
@ThisIsBikeTrialsАй бұрын
Eesh, hope your kidney issues subside soon - that does not sound fun. And being off the bike sucks too ☹️ I do actually have some rim tar... But when you have another bike right next to it that works? It's just as easy to grab the other bike. Yep, I'm being lazy 😁 Finally fixed up the Crewkerz recently - flat fix and rim grind. Then got a pinch flat first ride (this week). At least it was the end of the ride. Yeah... I do need to improve my trackstands. Kinda fundamental. I don't know why I have always had trouble doing them on pallets, vs. using correction hops.
