Kathie George

Kathie George is a talented artist, a much-sought-after workshop instructor, and the author of five instructional art books. She is experimental and innovative when it comes to her use of media, but works primarily in watermedia. She is best known for developing and teaching the watercolor batik on rice paper technique. Her students rave about her friendly, informative, and energetic approach to teaching.

Kathie loves teaching because it gives her opportunities to show people how they can succeed. She knows what it is like to dream of being an artist so she is highly motivated to help people as they learn how to paint. Kathie understands how exciting and difficult it is to get started with a new art form and specializes in showing her students how to improve their work and embrace their mistakes with a sense of humor.

As a workshop instructor for over 30 years, Kathie is known for her friendly, informative and energetic approach to teaching. Her classes are both informative and fun!

Kathie, thank you so very much for the inside scoop of where to get plain, silk scarves, Dharma Trading CO. There seem to be lot of You Tubes on different ways to create, but I hadn't seen anything on where to purchase these scarves. Your work is beautiful. Thank you!

Nice indeed , did you apply wax on the entire paper first?it is actually not clear. Or the color gambouge is applied first then concealed with wax..repeating the process for other colors ???

Ellen, this is REAL batik - layers of wax and color. Only, instead of on fabric, it's on paper.

Very beautiful... I'm sitting here in a suburb of Los Angeles thinking, if our streets looked like that, someone would be complaining! We get caught up in this phenomenon that bigger, better, costlier equates to nearing perfection.... when its truly the simplest things that ARE perfection. Thanks for sharing your moment. Lauri
