as a reverb it has the same reputation as Lexicon. It is a great reverb and recognisable. I love both however Lexicon is so eighties , my youth :)

currently in the lead of a bid for a OP-1, and watching this vid is encouraging me to get it. $700 and it’s going for $1399 literally half the price. does this thing come with its own software? how do i save my beats?
@SoloRay
@SoloRay 5 ай бұрын
No software for your computer. On the original you don’t really save as it’s constantly recording to the hard drive. In “album” mode you have two 6 minute segments you can record a full beat on. Saving is not really its strong suit haha

Thanks for this amazing tutorial! After I gather the samples, would you happen to know which equivalent Ableton device would allow me to create the pad? I tried creating numerous instrument racks and all of the samples that I recorded from my own matriarch play at once, but somehow this doesn't have the same sound like yours does in the tutorial

On the fence. I've owned a few Big Sky's in my various rigs. I KNOW they sound brilliant. Honestly, I question whether I'd use the plugin enough in my recordings to justify the pricetag. If it was $99, I'd already own it. Great demo.

Love this! I would love a synth bass tone/sample video from you. It’s hard to get something simple and fat from packaged presets imo.
@SoloRay

Great idea! Yes you’re right. A lot of the time presets are kind of showing off all the things that the synth can do, instead of giving you the most usable thing you actually need haha

I'd say, if you can afford the Field, then definitely get that over the OP-1. There will be a point where the lo-fi, horrible noise floor of the OG will limit your production as you get better with it (at least that's what happened for me). As I got better at production, it felt like it was a real limitation. The 32bit signal chain of the Field will mean it's finally able to make proper studio quality files. For me that raises it to the next level

Lmao... The joke is on anyone who buys it for $2000 when it's not worth more than $300... It's the same ridiculous vanity of buying a $2000 iPhone when a $99 Android does all the same things... 💥

So the reality is is your pretty much paying $1000 more for the field to have multiple projects saved without running away to save a song that's struggling at 80% creativity. That's where the 1k extra lies. Yeah well for someone that is right around the corner to buying I feel ya that the O/G is 90% the same machine but frick Im gonna be a sampling mastermind and having 1 slot sucks balls.

Just got an OP-1 for $590 on eBay free of any problems. Now I’m just trying to read the owners manual and watch as my videos as possible. I will have to check out your skillshare videos. Thanks for your post because I was really thinking of getting the “field”. Still might get it for the ability to save ideas and Bluetooth. My setup is mostly BT. Thanks again.

Nice review, thanks! Do you hear any difference between the plugin and the pedal? Since as you mentioned in the beginning, the analog hardware affects the overall sound. Almost always native versions sounds weaker because of this...
@SoloRay
@SoloRay Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Since the pedal is not analog, it’s 100% digital, the plug-in is identical. I notice literally 0 difference in sound. The workflow is different but the sound is the same. 👍🏻

I think there is still a use case for the pedal for guitar players. Doesn’t always make sense to run a computer as part of your rig, but for keyboard players or producers? Yeah sell that thing.
