He also swapped the Vince dicola score with the bill conti. I was hoping you guys would mention that… anyway, another great breakdown guys…. A little too critical at times but still great 👍🏼-Gino

He’s thinking of Drago. Once he gets to Russia, he places the picture of him on the mirror. He also yells out “Drago!!!” during training.

"If you hang around with nice people you get nice friends, hang around with smart people and you get smart friends, hang around with yo-yos and you get yo-yos for friends. It's simple mathematics." See Marie, and how was it with simple word "Whore" was Rocky there too right with you, when u said this with 12 yo all the time, "whore" Marie, which Marie ? Ah yes Marie the whore, yes i can remember on her😅

Jared hit the nail on the head and I have thought the same thing. Sly didn’t want the ‘crying version’ at the time because he didn’t want Rocky to seem weak or vulnerable! So true in my opinion.

The statue in the funeral, it’s just a composite image. The statue is a different image added to the frame. Sly probably wanted it there for symbolic purposes. That’s why the men in the statue image are blurry and they’re also larger. I think I’ve explained this to you before.

I don't like how Sly took out "Throw the damn towel!!" for the director's cut. Easily Duke's most emotional moment in the entire franchise.

Crazy to think in Rocky 1 he tells her she could be remembered for her rep as a whore if she didn’t clean her act up. Yet here he remembers her as the girl who hung around the Atomic Hoggie Shop. He still remembered her for who she was and not her reputation at the time. Love how Rocky always remembers the best in people!

This is supposed to be an exhibition! As I grow older, the more I believe that Apollo wanted to die in the ring. Maybe because he didn't want to grow old or didn't know what to do with himself in retirement. Pretty quickly a fighter of Apollo's caliber would have known this was a losing battle. If he wanted to live he had plenty of time to make that choice, unless Drago had already destroyed Apollo's mental faculties in the first round alone.

I don’t know about this Ryan. Sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory. Too many people would have to be ‘in on it’… Humans just can’t keep a secret. Surely there’d be a whistleblower?… im gonna need to see your sources, if you could please send me some links… also, I just don’t believe humans can be so deceptive and greedy.. 😂😂😜😜

One of the worst monologues in film history. The Russian crowd and leader reaction was so cringe, it transcended the boundary into beauty.

A "slip" is a type of evasive head movement. "Slipping the jab," is a thing. it is essentially headmovment to your right if you are facing an orthodox stance. It sets up your right hand to counter.

Thanks for a great episode as always. I haven't seen the director's cut before so I appreciate the comparisons. One thing I'd like to get your opinions on is the....how do I say this.... the pattern in these movies of having a boxer: 1. withholding his punch until his corner man yells something to him, or 2. being in trouble, then suddenly flipping it around and landing some great shots at his opponent, when his corner man yells at him. Because it's not just Drago. Rocky does this, I think in all his fights. Apollo does it once or twice against Rocky. Even Clubber does it against Rocky. I guess it's done to show the importance of the trainer? But I've always found it weird. Why would a boxer, currently being pummelled, suddenly find the strength and forget all pain, just because his trainer yells at him? It doesn't make sense and it almost makes the boxers seem robotic, like they're voice operated boxing droids. I don't know. What do you guys think?

"Creed is over the hill and the Russian hasn't fought anybody." Whoever Drago fought prior to the bout with Apollo hadn't been anyone of significance. Tomato cans. 😂 Also, I was puzzled by Sly's choice to cut out the slip by Creed but keep the audio in. In the theatrical, he slips moving around the ring as a sign of 'ring rust' because he hadn't fought in 5 years and we see it. He should've kept it in the director's cut because it still stood that Apollo was out of action for 5 years. Even though he says he felt 'born again', he was still rusty and that's just the showmanship/cockiness that Apollo had.

Hehe I’ve always found this bit interesting and it’s funny you guys are discussing this… I feel that Apollo raised himself like that because he’s concerned about her, that he upset her. He didn’t actually say anything so it can’t be an apology so I’m going to go with etiquette… but Rocky is just too old school Italian to even budge😂😂😂 BUT we learn from the directors cut that he actually goes to check up on her in the kitchen. But we had to wait 40 years to learn this 😏
