I liked the station wagon style. We had lots of them in MT running around. The owners were happy. I have a '23 Outback Wilderness. The SUV style is meh to me but I love this vehicle. The new style looks more like an Ascent. The departure angles look even lower than when it was a wagon, which is not good.

Wife wants me to look into another car with weather capabilities and for off the beaten path but not a big SUV. I considered the Outback as a good option because of it's wagon design. If they go with the standard SUV design, it's off the list. The Outback wagon filled that spot where one doesn't want a standard SUV or already has an SUV and just want something to fill both wants or needs.

I would prefer the 2025 Subaru outback depending on affordability. 2026 Subaru outback not certain on the design. But I recommend the older generation outbacks

The wagon layout was it's selling point. It maintained car like characteristics in size and handling for those that did not want an SUV style. Length wise the wagon may be similar to an SUV, but height wise it was smaller than an SUV. This car filled a niche that no one else offered in comparison and that was the selling point of it's wagon layout. If it goes the standard SUV layout then there are tons of other options out there that offer traction control and are more capable with real 4x4 capabilities.

The Impreza has plenty of space if you're also looking into a station wagon that's not too small not too big. Outback or Impreza is a good pick even in snowy conditions
@bubbalo33884 күн бұрын
@Chris_Nation4_Rally thought about a Crosstrek but too small for our needs. We need something larger for people and cargo without having to fold down the seats. Also need something to tackle sand, beaten up mountain roads and snow. Thus we need all conditions ability and ground clearance. Have a Yukon XL that can handle anything but not so great as a daily driver and sometimes it's just me and my wife so taking the Yukon is too much. Plus my wife doesn't like driving that huge thing. So she wants something she would be comfortable to drive in the snow. Keeping the Yukon still. Love that thing.

I would get the outback or the wilderness outback if you're into major off-road.
@bubbalo33884 күн бұрын
@@Chris_Nation4_Rally that would of been the one I would pick. But wife wants ventilated seats so would have to step up to the Touring.

This means you've been taking care of those vehicles. Changing oil every interval of 3-5 thousand miles, etc. I'm just talking about the people who abuse the vehicles by not changing oil, putting stress on the engine.

I bought my first Subaru two years ago, an Outback Wilderness. Subaru engines have evolved, but they still require maintenence and it's slightly more costly than other brands. I anticipate 300k miles out of this car.

Not excited about this so far... straying away from what the Outback is and on to something else to appease who? If the new Outback turns out to be a bloated SUV and not a station wagon then what is the purpose of the Ascent?
@Chris_Nation4_Rally7 күн бұрын
What I think is most car brands and manufacturers announcing a new generation vehicle. Most of the time it's always been a trend and modernization for newly refreshed vehicles that's why Subaru is squaring off on the traditional station wagon to a SUV because people want the big SUVs with more room and space. That's what it is money, trending, etc.

My 2012 forester can only be started at the 3rd trial every single morning. Voltage before start is 12.1V at -17c. What shd I do ?
@Chris_Nation4_Rally18 күн бұрын
It could be a battery issue: at -17c (-30 degrees fahrenheit) indicates a weak or old battery struggling to hold charge due to very cold temperatures draining the battery. Make sure to check the battery and determine if it's working properly. If not test the starter solenoid. Or an alternator check or replace if it's not charging the battery. So it could be as simple as the battery is weak in cold temperatures.

It was the material used in the head gaskets, which was corrected.
@Chris_Nation4_Rally24 күн бұрын
Yes, in the early Subarus they used a single layered graphite coated head gasket. This is a problem back then where under heat and age chips and wears the gasket where pieces of the graphite get into the engine and cause oil to leak and pressure to build in the engine.

Yes well I just got back from the dealer because the TCV failed after 21 k miles. There is a class action lawsuit about this issue. Before that the windshield just popped for no reason. Another major issue. I have owned them for 20 years. I am looking to trade it in as soon as possible. Done with Subaru.
